I'm another one who loves those trees! In fact, I like that more than some of the barren areas around the geysers.
But everything is just breath-taking. Can't imagine seeing it all in person.

Another set of wonderful pictures, Chez! I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around how many astonishing sights there are at Yellowstone. It's nothing like I expected it to be (having watched Yogi Bear on TV every Saturday morning when I was a child, I kinda thought you'd see picnic tables and campsites everywhere ) Seriously, though, I did expect more forest around the geysers, don't know why.
You're not the only one - my dad told me to say hello to Yogi!
I wasn't sure what to expect. I'd heard the scenery was stunning, but nothing can really prepare you for the sights they do see - they are truly breathtaking, amazing etc. etc.
Saturday 10 September – part seven: a final set of geysers to complete the tour
When we got to West Thumb, we diverted off to see their geyser basin. I did think that, after everything we’d already seen, this might be a bit of a disappointment, but fortunately, not a bit of it. It made for some stunning shots with Lake Yellowstone behind, and sadly that fire was still raging away behind.
Once again, there were lots of obvious names for the various geysers...
Fantastic photos! It's kind of neat seeing your photos now compared to the pictures my in-laws took back in the 70's. Not *too much has changed and that's good.
I cannot wait for the Tetons. I know you weren't as impressed by them as you were with Yellowstone, but for some reason I just adore them.
I do like the lake as the backdrop. So did you do Yellowstone in 2 days?
Essentially - we arrived Thursday evening and left late Saturday afternoon. Ambitious, but I felt we did most of what I wanted to. An extra day would've been nice, but we only had a certain amount of time to fit everything in.
