It seems like you had a lovely trip. Seeing these pictures which are beautiful by the way, are just getting me so excited to actually be there in a few weeks. It is a gorgeous part of the country and I am so looking forward to being there. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures and experiences.
Final thoughts:
*We loved the cabin, there were a few nit-picky things that we didn’t like but if maintenance would have gotten back with us, would have taken care of it.
*Gatlinburg is too crowded and too congested for my taste. Too many things crammed in such a small area.
*Gatlinburg also didn’t seem to be right for Michael and Gabby with more things to do for my older two than my younger two. But I know every family is different.
None of these things turned me off. Would we stay there again? Heck yeah we would!!****
Michael and Gabby claims this was one of the best spring breaks ever, especially after my niece and I surprised them with a weekend in Indy that included a trip to the zoo!!
***In fact, in preparation for the July cruise, my sister said she'd love to stop over in Gatlinburg sometime and I said I happen to know of just the place!
We're booked in a 3 bedroom cabin this time, called Morning Glory and because now we are repeat guests, I received one heck of a discount.............45% off!!!
I used several websites to help me plan, but these two were the biggest help Gatlinburg.com, and mainly Discover the Smokies.
If anybody is interested, the link to the resort is right here. Start off with the 1 bedrooms. Some sleep just 4, but most sleep more than that. Click on a cabin, then scroll down to the end of the page. you will find a rate calendar. Find your dates--you can even go as far as December 2013!!!
Our week was still winter rates so our cabin was only $140 a night. Next year the rates are increasing by 5, but still, $145 a night for a cabin that sleeps 9???
Sounds like a really fun time. The scenery is so beautiful. I can't believe how tall both kids are getting!
I know right!! Gabby said her teacher measured the class and she is definitely the tallest!

The Madison Bridge - haven't driven over that in so long! My mom's side of the family is from the Muncie area, so we always drove over that bridge on our way up there when I was young. Just couldn't wait to see it, as it meant we were halfway to our destination!

they're redoing the bridge and it is currently closed this week. I prefer to cross the Ohio here than in Louisville or Cincinatti, it is so much easier.
Great trip! I hope to get my family to those mountains one day. I will have to remember what you said about it being better for the older kids.
Can't wait to see you pics from you upcoming cruise! Enjoy your trip!

Glad you had a great time Wendy! Great pictures from your adventures along the way! Thanks for all the booking info! Maybe we can swing by there one day!
I absolutely loved reading this trip report - a part of the country I'm not very familiar with, but it looks beautiful. One day I'm sure we'll make it out there - and to see you as well of course!

Of course she will be - well, let's put it this way, I'll be doing a pre-trip report (started to write it over the weekend ) and a trip report. How could I not? My best friend is coming to stay!

I am not surprised!! There are so many times I wish I were staying longer! So much talking to do, so little time!!
What a nice trip. The views are spectacular.
Your pictures were great. The penguins looked they were going to break into song.
Sounds like a really good time with your family.
Thank you, it was! Those penguins really cracked me up. The one came up to the window with his fish in his mouth, set it down to stare at us and another snuck behind him and ate it. classic!
