Haven't been around for awhile and don't get to go to my happy place for a year and a half. Any word on if the they are going to do a cars land at the World
Haven't heard any rumors about that, but I doubt it. They area still working on finishing the huge Fantasyland expansion, so I doubt that they will take on another big job like that. Plus, I don't even know where they would put it. I think the closest thing to Carsland that WDW will get is the Cars section over at the new Art of Animation resort.
They have to have things to entice you to come to California. I doubt they'll be adding it at WDW.
The cars look a lot like Test Track cars and ride on similar tracks.....I think TT is the WDW 'equivalent'. And that's getting a makeover right now.
You know, I hadn't really thought about it like that, but you make a very good point. We missed the opening of Cars Land by a few days -- and I'm okay with that, I imagine the crowds probably made the place a little bit insane -- but, I did tell DH that when we return to the States in 2 years, we will just have to go back!

I can't remember where I read it, but I recently read somewhere that Disney is working at not duplicating rides at the two US parks, basically as a way to entice you to both parks. And it worked, we're planning at trip to DL next fall with my cousins family so her little guy can enjoy Cars Land! We are all so excited to get him out there!!!!

I doubt we'll ever see a Cars Land at WDW. I think if they did something it would be a unique experience only to WDW. DL has it's Cars Land, but WDW will have many future projects ahead besides the FLE and Avatar.
The Disney California Adventure make-over, which included a whole lot more than Cars Land, was a business necessity. DCA attendance has been running 3.3 million guests behind Studios and Animal Kingdom, which is nearly 1/3 behind those parks (and Epcot is not that much higher than Studios and DAK), making it by far the worst-performing of domestic Disney parks and next-to-last worldwide. Disneyland Park attendance, right across the Esplanade, has been around 10 million higher.
Disney clearly believes that they can improve DCA attendance without substantial hurt (if any) to DLP. With the vast majority of DLR guests being day visitors (people from the area), the goal there is to get folks to choose to go to a Disney park more often (fewer trips to Universal, the beach, the ball park, etc.). Even movie-going - if they can maintain the longer evening hours they've currently been able to justify, then DCA becomes a regular after-work choice, as DLP has been for a very long time.
The vast majority of WDW guests are multi-day vacationers. In general, it's harder to get someone to switch what they do for an annual vacation than it is to get them to switch what they do for a single day.
Right now AK is ahead of Studios in attendance. Avatar Land is likely to push it even farther ahead. However, AK is the park that has room for a new land, so that's where it's happening.
Overall, Disney Parks and Resorts tends to expand capacity very slowly. They're less likely to "build it and they will come," more likely to maximize utilization of what they have. Outside of Avatar Land, it's more likely we'll see improvements at Epcot (something new in the Wonders of Life space, something that will draw more guests than Ellen's Energy Adventure) and a refresh at Studios (Voyage of the Little Mermaid, for example). Between those, we're talking about the same number of attractions as Cars Land, without building a new land.
Finally, the idea of maintaining parity between resorts (if DLR gets a new attraction, WDW has to get the same thing) just doesn't hold up historically. They'll put the same (or similar) attraction in multiple parks in part because of the economies of scale, in part because the theme represents a compelling draw wherever it's built. With the exception of the Magic Kingdom theme, which is found at every Disney resort around the world, there's remarkably little duplication of park themes, and even land themes.
As has long been rumored/hoped, we'll probably see more Pixar-themed attractions at Studios. They're more likely to be shows than rides, though.

Worked for us too! I went to DL as a kid...1989...when my mom and step day lived in CA. I had been wanting to go back, but for us, it's across country trek. But then Carsland was announced and I KNEW we needed to go, even with spending a crazy amount on airfare! So the plan is already in motion for August 2013...6 days at DL and DCA and another 6 days doing So Cal and possibly Vegas.
I imagine the parks would have different things Why have them be the same?? I'm excited to do all the things that are different

I just saw this article and it's strictly a rumor at this point but I think it would be a great idea. The Lights, Motor, Action Stunt show just doesn't interest me and I always bypass it.

I doubt it too. Dinsey just spent a chunk of change on Fantasyland expansion, and with Avatar waiting in the wings, I can't see them shelling out any more cash
