oh well it opens after my trip. That just means i need to start planning next years trip. Altho dont tell my hubby that, he wants to skip a year so we can save some money to move to florida.
It WILL be open for Thanksgiving. The Disney Parks Blog said "previews" (AKA "soft opening") begin November 19. If they're willing to announce that date, chances are that some or all attractions will be open even earlier than that. As I've noted in several posts, the CMs need to be trained and come up to speed, and for many good reasons, they want the attractions open for Thanksgiving, even if it's not "official." A three-day preview period prior to Thanksgiving day is pretty brief as these things go. I really doubt they'd allow that little time before major crowds arrive, unless they were 95% sure they'll have more time than that.
The Grand Opening is always later than when the attractions are actually up and running - they don't invite the media until they're sure they won't be embarrassed. It's probably also not a coincidence that the Grand Opening will be happening right around the same time they'll be taping the Christmas Parade.
Someone posted on the Disney Parks Blog, wondering if "previews" meant AP previews. I'm sure it does. There will also be CM previews scheduled to take place before the AP previews (well before the 19th, in all likelihood). However, in addition to those scheduled events, the doors will be open to the general public. Initially, it'll be for short periods at a time - come by Fantasyland, and see what's open. As long as everything goes well, the attractions will be open nearly non-stop after a short while.

I'm really hoping that they will be having some soft openings earlier than the 19th, we will be there the week before!! I'd hate to miss it by just a few days!
We'll be there from Dec 1-9, I'm confident they'll get those CMs trained in time for us. I'd love to get in earlier in the week as I fear it will be a madhouse after the 6th. May want to rethink our plans for the week now and revisit ADRs. Hoping to get an ADR for Be out Guest as well!
Do you think we will be able to get ADRs for Be Our Guest during the soft opening or will it not open until Dec 6th? Any chance counter service lunch would be open even if dinner is not? I know we may just have to wait until the end of August to find out but just thought Dave might have an opinion.
I figured they'd have to do soft opening in time for Thanksgiving.... wow, so that's the day we arrive - I suspect we'll be far too jetlagged to consider going near the Magic Kingdom.
When will Be Our Guest start taking ADRs? They specifically did not announce that in the Disney Parks Blog, they said (in reply to a question) that they will announce that separately.
My guess is that they will open ADRs for the "official" preview period. I'm sure they want it to be up and running in time for Thanksgiving, and ADRs for Thanksgiving are essentially mandatory (for crowd control, not just guest convenience). Will they open ADRs prior to the 19th? Harder to say. They will certainly be having CM previews (those typically start a month before the official opening day). They may even accept walk-ups prior to the 19th. Since ADRs are a something of a commitment on Disney's part... you may be able to do a same-day ADR if they're open for guests that evening. And if things do go well... Just stay tuned.
