That IS sad . . . what the h-e-double hockey sticks is wrong with people these days!? I can understand being upset but when the riot police have to come and break things up, that's when things have gone too far!
Looks like they need to take a look at their ticketing system and see if there's any changes they can make to avoid this in the future!
Yes, I think the headline was a little over the top. If you look at the slide show of images, it looks like the one guy in one of the images is trying to put his little girl over the fence. The next image, she is gone, but don't know if the images are in order. But still, why would you do that? I mean, did they think she would just proceed to go check out Disneyland by herself? I mean come on! Why would you put your child in that situation to begin with?

I agree! Even the first line of the article - "Angry families stormed fences at Hong Kong Disneyland and tossed their children over gates Thursday after the theme park sold out for an eighth consecutive day, - was a bit over the top as well, I thought.

I know!!! But, you know . . . sad as it is, you just never know with some people! Guess these people have learned about what happens at a Disney park now during the very busy holidays!!! I just hope that this doesn't happen again and that people get some smarts about them . . .
wow that's nuts! seriously what did they think they were going to do? if the park is full, it's full. come back another day. MAN! it's just a park! it's not worth your kid's safety. go have a picnic somewhere or something.
the park's been sold out for 8 days straight though. which is officially the first time it's happened since the park opened in september. they just want to all be there for the new year celebration, so it's pretty much like trying to go to MK on new year's eve, only they don't have a Disney Studios to resort to when they get shut out.
HKDL is too small. I hope they do come up with one in Shanghai.
The people had come over from mainland China for the Lunar New Year not understanding the ticketing system. They claimed the inconvenience ruined their hioliday, thay can't com e back etc. HKDL spokesman said the visitots had felxible tickets that weer goo for 6 monmths, but they did not guarantee entry on any give day. 've seen the video, this press reporty is totally overwritten - tabloid journalism at it's worst. Not that we're exempt from it here!
I saw video of this on our local news tonight! I couldn't believe it! That one guy shaking the gate reminded me of Leo cursing and shaking the gate door in Titanic And they showed the guy lifting his little girl over the gate. I wouldn't say that he tossed her.....
Wow, that's pretty crazy. The parks are full? Throw your kid over the gate! And I thought I'd heard it all when it comes to people trying to get into amusement parks. This is definitely something new! CRAZY!

How can you change the tickets to make the park hold more people?
Sold out is sold out. It happens at MK every July 4th, Christmas day, and New Years Eve, but at least at WDW you have 3 other parks to try when MK sells out. In HKDL they only have the one, and those who got there too late couldn't get in.
Disney can't win, can they? After reports that attendance at HKDL has been lower than expected, this happens.
I've seen several cases here in the States of parents passing children over a fence in preparation for them jumping the fence themselves (you sure don't leave the kids behind and hope strangers will pass them to you). It doesn't mean it's right, but...
You all remember how upset Clark W. Griswold (Chevy Chase) got when the family arrived at Roy Wally World and it was closed?
I'm sure there are also a few cultural differences to consider, including that we've all had a chance to learn how to behave Disney-style, and that Disney has still got a bit to learn about adapting to Chinese cultural expectations. I wonder how it would feel, after having grown up in a world of government-imposed rationing, standing on long lines or waiting for years in hopes of attaining your goal, to finally "arrive." Now that you've got some prosperity and such disappoitments are becoming a thing of the past, what are you going to do next? "We're going to Disneyland!!!" Ooops!
