Wow! I Christmas and yet the crazy, Mall Santa, kids screaming, packed department store Christmases I do not; however, this hotel doesn't look like they over do it! It's really beautiful. If anyone ever ends up visiting, let us know! For now, I'll take the WL at Chrsitmas!

I can't imagine Disney doing this. In today's age of secularism, why would they want to (possibly) offend anyone?

I'd figure this would be something that people would *choose* to go to... therefore, it wouldn't offend anyone any more than the AKL would offend those who don't believe in animals being kept captive, or the Beach Club would offend people who don't like beaches, etc.

Now THAT makes SENSE to me!
I could see a holiday resort similar to AS resorts, but then again....which holidays? Only the biggies in America? Wouldn't that then offend others? (ex. Halloween for example). Hmmm New Years, Thanksgiving, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day, the list could become quite extensive.....where would it all end.
I think perhaps that visiting Disney officials might have been snooping for ideas in decorating perhaps, or checking out a little competition maybe?
I do think it would be fun to see a resort built around the theme of seasons however!!!

wow! I used to go to the store EVERY trip, ie. a LOT as a kid! The store is great for your special decorations you are hunting for, but a hotel?? I can see how this thing might work in the Smokies. I mean, everyone imagines fire side snuggles, cocoa, and skiing in the mountains.

But, Disney year-round Christmas? NO, I don't think it would work. I think IF Disney has been there to check it out, it is more likely they are just sizing up the competetion, or just checking out decorating ideas for the holidays.

interesting, though.

Oh, PS. lets go ride the "Outdoor Pool with 95 foot figure-eight slide" then go snuggle by the fire!

There's an amusement park in NH called Santa's Village and my mother thought the concept was so heinous that we never got to go. I've always loved Christmas, but now that I've spent Christmas with my son, I REALLY love it and would stay at a Christmas resort in August without question.

I Christmas and think staying in a Christmas resort anytime of year would be . Now I probably wouldn't want to do it every year, but once would be neat.

My DH and I actually stayed in this hotel last week for two nights. It was absolutely beautiful. Very tastefully done. We had a room with a fireplace and the mantle was decorated amazingly. I'd love to do my own fireplace that way. The lobby was so pretty, it was nice just to sit there and take it all in. One evening a week Santa is there to sing and the people seemed to really enjoy it. A full breakfast is included in the room rate. And it was really a full breakfast, with omelettes, waffles, fruit, etc.

We felt the rates were very reasonable and they don't have a gift shop there, so they're not pushing any product. But their Christmas store is across the street -- an amazing place in itself.

If you ever get to Pigeon Forge, and you like beautiful Chistmas decorations, we would highly recommend staying there. I know we have found a new favorite.

Linda

Seems interesting.

I don't see how anyone can be offended if they did do this, you won't be forced to stay there or even visit.
