| The CM testified, saying..."If I got the crap beat out of me, I have to go along and say nothing ever happened. That's part of the Disney integrity. We have to." What!?! This makes no sense to me. I can understand not being able to speak while in character, but this is crazy talk ![]() |

The handler is there to watch for bad behavior and nip it in the bud, escorting guests away from the character and getting the character to safety. And that's in Disney World, where they have an almost one-to-one ratio of characters to handlers. You should see the nonsense they have to put up with at Disneyland, where they have few handlers and they tend to stand back a ways from the crowd -- who have no sense of order and refuse to form lines. It's a madhouse sometimes! Eileen PS - thanks to all CMs who are "friends of the characters." It's a tough, but magical job you do and you have my undying gratitude for the joy you spread. And... if you see a weeping, red-faced 42 year old woman totally losing self-control around Minnie, don't worry. Like a total doofus. ![]()

| I know what you mean though Eileen, I played 2 characters before (Non Disney, and only for a couple of days to help out local places) Kids would run up from behind and kick me. I have no idea what goes through peoples minds sometimes...

I think the poor Minnie got a little over the top with that part of the comment, but the press does take things out of context. Of course DIsney doesn't expect CMs to stay quiet if the "crap is beaten out of them". She probably really is traumatized after the assault, and I'm sure the case was not pleasant. She could have waved the Disney Distress signal so other CMS would understand that something serious was going on, but at least the photographer caught the actions on photo. I feel bad for her. That must be awful.

I think she means that they need to stay in Character and not fight back like hitting the guy or yell out knock it off. Remember poor Tigger who had to deal with the teen that tryed to mess with him? Eileen you are so correct in that they take a lot of rough treatment, not to mention how darn hot they get.....to make most ofus smile with joy when meeting them. It seems to me that the young woman would have no reason to make up something so she could go to court or lose her job. There must have been pictures taken and I would think that security camera might catch this incident too.

| I just don't get people. It's really sad that people think to kick characters or worse. So unnecessary. |
