I saw a show very much like this--maybe six months ago.

The show I saw was a sting operation where a office

posing as a young girl would post on the internet

and see if any older guys wanted to hook up with her.

When the guys showed up(A few sleezy ones did)

they were arrested. The part that really upset me

was that some of the guys had dropped their families

off at WDW for the day. I was happy to see them

heading off to jail. And maybe prison.

just to be clear, she wasn't raped per se, it was consensual (as much as it can be, she was actually 12 at the time - that article is a brief, semi-errored retelling of the item)

he also didn't have intercourse with her according to what he confessed to. but i won't go into details on it. but then again, that's just what he says

his defense is that he thought she was 16 at the time. how he believed a 12 year old to be 16 and figured a nearly 30 year old could sleep with a 16 year old and get away with it is beyond me.

he got busted because they created a sting operation inviting him to go back to do what they 'had done before' and went for it. he claimed he wasn't going for sex, but they found a condom on him, and he finally confessed.

I don't know the laws in Florida but a 16 year old in California could say yes all night and it would still be rape.

it's 16 if the other partner is 18-24, and 18 if the other partner is 24+

but sexual assault could apply to statutory rape, but in the case of statutory rape, it doesn't imply unwillingness, just that one of the persons involved is under the age of consent. but again, it's a he said-she said because despite having a condom on him the second time, he admits he only tried to have intercourse the first time but admits only to other acts.

it could easily be argued, even in this day and age, that a 12 year old wouldn't really understand all of the details

I'll bet you his lawyer will point a finger at teh girl being in foster care, so she knows teh ins and outs and that she is full of nothing but lies.. that's how it normally goes in cases like these...

Normally I wouldn't chime in on a subject like this (and I won't give my opinions on the subject matter) but I think that this topic is inappropriate. There are too many strong opinions and it is just asking for arguments to begin. Personally, I think this one should be locked or disappear.
