They're not recalling the product, just offering refunds. Claiming the DVD would make babies smarter was pretty silly, but a lot of people believed it

It's kind of like diet pills....they don't make you lose weight unless you stop eating like a pig and actually work out. Throwing your baby in front of a tv is not going to make them smart. My family bought Baby Einsteins for my 5yo when he was born and he still loves them all, but that's not what has made him above average (according to his 1st report card). I work with him daily and am a very involved parent. His Dad is very involved with classroom activities and we've read him at least 2 books a night since he was born. Shoot, he was holding small books on his own at 3 months old. I blame the parents if the kids aren't smart (not talking of kids w/ development problems). I've heard it too much from my friends who work that they just don't have time. My answer to that is BS! My parents worked and my Dad was always on call, but they found the time. It took me 6 years of speech therapy to learn to communicate cuz I'm half deaf. Without their involvement, I probably wouldn't have made it all the way thru college.

Whoaaa...guess I was kind of venting there, but I just can't believe someone would actually be that corrupt to sue for that reason. Greed is a horrible thing!

I think this is ridiculous!!!!!! I purchased the Baby Einstein products for my son and he loved them...still does at 8 yrs old. I made the purchase because the videos were cute and colorful.. I did not seriously expect my son to turn into an Einstein/Galileo/Mozart. Any parent who does has a screw loose!!!!!!!!!!

This doesn't really surprise me at all. I know parents who love the Baby Einstein DVD's and not because of their educational claims. I love the music and actually own a couple of the CD's and I don't even have children!!!! People truly amaze me.

This is ridiculous!!! On the other hand, how can someone prove they didn't make their baby smarter? Who knows?? Maybe these crazy parents don't have smart kids because it's not in their gene pool??

As a Speech Pathologist in the schools - Bingo you nailed it!!!!

People should try talking to their children......Love and time make them smart because it gives them the security of knowing they are important.
