| Hhhhmmmmm, mixed feelings! I'm all for "expanding" Mickey's personality, and bringing him into the 21st century, but I wouldn't like to see him change too much, especially if that means a "dark side" or overly "wicked" side. Let's keep him as a good "role model"!!!

| Mickey was a rebel in his initial years. That is why when you watch Disney's early work from the black and white era you will notice it is more juvenile and less wholesome than the later family friendly approach Walt marketed to pull in more audiences. Mickey was a punk from the barn yard looking to cause problems by his misguided ambitions. I miss that Mickey great their finally bringing it back after nearly 80 years

| It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Change can be good, but change for the sake of change is usually a mistake.

| Disney should market both versions. The version that families seem to adore should still be marketed and still be a mainstay in the parks. Though the old rough version can be revived to appeal to older audiences that are turned off by the current Disney cartoons aimed at kids.

| BTW, the current issue of the magazine GameInformer is all about this new video game. The artwork is lush and has really intrigued me! Epic Mickey Coming Exclusively To Wii - News - GameInformer.com Eileen

Watch some of the Disney Treasures like Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume I or Volume II in particular although there are snippets in many more.Someone mentioned the Mickey/Pluto shorts and those are hysterical.

| Like Heather said, Mickey wasn't always perfect. I think it will be neat to see the game. You can still have sweet, perfect Micky or you can play with it and make him a trouble maker. I don't necessarily think he is going to be "evil". I don't think they should be marketing it that way exactly. He just won't be the hero all the time. I don't think even the best of people will always choose the right path. I think it will be interesting.

| Even Sorcerer Mickey has been "sweetened" over the years. The original Sorcerer's Apprentice isn't exactly a hero - consider him a wannabe that gets in over his head. He's apologetic and smiles like a little boy caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but he still gets a whack in the rear end for his mischief. Somewhere along the line, the Apprentice becomes the Sorcerer (was it for Fantasmic?) - 100% hero, battling the Villains. Then comes Mickey's PhilharMagic, and Donald is cast into the role of Apprentice. But then, that has tended to be Donald's role since the beginning - to take on the "lovable dark side" of the story lines, leaving Mickey looking bright and shiny. I guess it may have a bit to Walt's image, too. If we think of Mickey as Walt's alter ego (as portrayed in that famous photo where Mickey is shown as Walt's shadow) - and let's not forget that Walt was the original voice of Mickey... Walt wasn't always Mr. Sweetness and Light, even though we now like to think of him only as the Uncle Walt we saw in his TV shows.

| You know cartoons back then were not the wholesome conservative images that they seem to be through their censored versions. For that matter many cartoon studios haven't had some of their cartoons aired in years because their deemed to edgy, an offensive in today's standards. I find it all purely entertainment and you should take it for what it is. Mickey being mean? I've found bigger surprises of messed up cartoon characters created around that same time. It was apart of the culture of political incorrectness.

| For some reason this thread reminded me of when my mom and I were in Epcot one year and a little kid in a sorcerer Mickey Mouse costume whirled by us screaming at the top of his lungs, "I am the great satan!!" Who knows what was going through that kid's head! PS I can't wait to get my hands on that Wii game
