| Are they the same? This is kind of a sub-thread of the 'Dopey Passed Out' topic, but since that one was getting long, I made a new one... I don't know about the costumed characters, but it seems to me that the 'live' ones are almost certainly the same person - I saw Aladdin, Jasmine and Ariel on several occasions in different parks on different days, and they are either the same person or very closely related... Anyone else notice this? Or are the make-up people just really, really good? While we were in Morroco, EPCOT, Aladdin did mention to my daughter that he had seen her the previous day in MK. I'm interested to find out what you all think about this... | Re: Are they the same? One of my college friends was a Tigger, and she was assigned to the MK. I think that people get assigned to specific parks and hotels. I do know that characters pull double duty--I auditioned for face (sadly, I don't look like anyone ). but was measured at Pluto height (5'8"). The CM auditioning us said that even one of the girls who played Cinderella would pull on Rocky (the weightlifter figure from Toy Story) costume and parade down Hollywood Blvd. So, being a face character didn't let us out of costume duty. I would have gotten a 10 cent pay raise though. Yippie. One thing--if anyone wants to work at Disney, and they are short (5'1" or lower), run, don't walk, to the character department. They always need short people for the Mouse and Duck! |

| Re: Are they the same? You know I'm about 5'1" and I would love to work down there as a character...but something is telling me quitting my current job for it wouldn't be the most economical thing It would be awesome though! |

| Re: Are they the same? A CM told us that when they audition for "face characters," prospects are placed in categories as to what their "type" is, e.g., "You can audition for Jasmine or Pocohantas because you have those types of features." The face characters must look very much alike or it will spoil the magic if someone sees an Ariel that looks different at the MK than the one at MGM. They even have to learn to sign their names the same way. Also, the CM said it is common for the same CM to work at different parks throughout the day. One may be at a character breakfast in one park and show up in a parade in another park on the same day. |

| Re: Are they the same? I think this dose happen, even with costumed characters. During one visit Dale (or was it Chip) had been out side Tony's playing. He took a water bottle and "drank" for it, getting water all over his face. He was looking to wipe it so I told him he could use my shirt. The next day at Epcot we ate breakfast at the Garden grill and All of a sudden I couldn't see a like. All i could hear was kissing sounds. It was Dale(or was it Chip)He had snuck up on me very fast. it amde my mom think it was the same from the day before, just from how he came up to me. It was one of the best interactions I had ever had. Ever time I go it seems like Chipmunk love for me. one of them is always kissing on me. |

| Re: Are they the same? I don't the answer, but a girl that works at the local Bath and Body Works said she worked in the MK for 10 years as Snow White. She has blond hair, but she does look just like Snow White in the face. She didn't say she skipped around the parks, she told me she worked at the MK. My DVC friends have some friends whose 2 college-age daughters work as Chip and Dale at one of the restaurants. I'll have to find out if they skip around or work in the same place. I thought it was neat that 2 sisters got to play Chip and Dale. |

| Re: Are they the same? We saw Mary Poppins at the Stars & Cars parade at MGM one afternoon in July last year. She came very close to us as I was taking pictures and DD was sitting on DW's shoulders. The next morning we were at CRT for breakfast. When Ms. Poppins came to our table she exclaimed, "I saw you at the parade yesterday!", when she saw DD. Of course the cynic in me was thinking she's just trying to make a little girl feel special. Boy, was dumbfounded when she said, "You were sitting on your MOMMY'S shoulders near the end or the parade." We were nearly in tears after that. Craig |

| Re: Are they the same? Four years ago, my friends who were characters always worked at the same parks. But then, it was the College Program, so I don't know if they're different? I thought Mickey and Minnie were 5'4''-5'5''? I auditioned, too, and was told I could be a dancer in the parade, but there were very few characters in the 5'7'' range. I'm too tall for the short ones and too short for the tall ones. *sigh* |

One of the things I never knew in my 40+ years was how to tell Chip and Dale apart, but I learned at FtW in May. (who says WDW isn't educational?) Chip has a "chocolate" (dark brown) nose. Think of Chocolate Chip. Dale has a space between his teeth. | |

| Re: Are they the same? Gee, my dream job (if money was no object) was to be a greeter at Disney World. Now I see from LuckyPup's post that I could dress up as the Mouse or the Duck It's looking better every day!! |
