Lifetime Passes?

I was talking about Disney at work yesterday and one of the guys mentioned to me that his aunt and uncle have just purchased lifetime park passes. WHAT?! Has anyone heard of this? He told me they were good for every single park, for life, and they were transferable to their children when they die. I thought maybe he confused the Disney Vacation Club with something else but he swears to me that they have purchased lifetime park passes. He couldn't tell me how they did it or how much it cost them but that his aunt & uncle "know people". I'm really curious if anyone here knows of such a thing.

I know back in the early 80s you could buy a lifetime park pass for some outrageously low amount of like $150(Probably alot at the time), but that ended years ago. That would be cool if you could still do that. Anybody with more info?

I know that there was the offer many years ago, but I haven't heard of anything more recently.

Wait transferable to your children when you die? That would be an eternal pass not a lifetime pass. How cool would it be to inherit passes to WDW? Boy would that cause some fighting in my family!

I believe we need to find out where he got those passes. I truly hope they weren't scammed.

I hope they didn't sign up for DVC thinking they were getting park passes. What a surprise that would be!

Other than the discontinued program already mentioned I have no knowledge of Lifetime Passes to Disney. If there were such a thing we would be first in line!

With all the guidebooks and research we (the collective PassPorter board member "we" ) have amassed, I would think that by now one of us would have either obtained or at the very least uncovered these passes in our journey. Then again it's always possible that they could be a new venture. And if they are, I want some sooo bad.

I know of a family at my church that has lifetime passes to the Disney parks, but that is because the Dad was a CM when WDW first opened and apparently that was one of the CM perks backs then.

He was in the parade on the bicycle built for two and he was also Winnie the Pooh around the Magic Kingdom.
