I heard this on a podcast and told DH about it. Sparked a big interest with him. I would guess that it would take awhile to remodel and set up. Wonder how long before it would open.

The more I hear about this, the happier I am! I have a little buccaneer who would lose his mind if he got to eat with pirates. Stitch, Mickey and pirates all in one week would send hm over the edge.

We were told 2 years. Some friends and I just had a meal at the LTT and the server overheard us talking about it. The server said it was a go, but that it was supposed to happen in 2 years (as per the area manager who had already been talks about the restaurant). I have NO idea why it'd take so long, but that is what we were told.

It'd be nice if they turned it over that quickly - we were told the two years though (I have NO idea why it should take that long).

I can only make a guess why they'd be talking two years. Disney already has significant under-staffing problems, so to fully staff an entirely new restaurant could take a while. Since they'll already be adding a new establishment over at AKL Villas during the same period, perhaps they're being cautiously conservative. Naturally, there's also the issue of budgets. If it wasn't approved for the fiscal year starting October 2007, that brings us pretty close to that two-year estimate (construction begins in October '08, restaurant goes online 4-6 months later... Voila! Two years.

That could be! I totally understand possible staffing issues - Disney really couldn't staff new resorts, new theme parks easily because they don't have enough people now.

The server we spoke with had direct information from an area manager - someone who I guess is heading up this new restaurant. The server seemed pretty certain it was 2 years. Of course, Disney could speed that up - I never, ever say never with Disney or always - because plans change. I have someone who occasionally tells me info before it happens - and sometimes, like the HMH, it doesn't. Budgets get cut, minds changed. I have learned a lot about that! Even with the HM - it is closed, there are plans for it. But if the budget runs over, they could ax (no pun intended) the DL add-ons they have planned.

Alsoooo - there have been rumors (nothing I've heard definite, so definitely only rumors) about Adventureland being updated. So if that was the case, maybe a new restaurant would be part of that. Or not.

All I know is that two years seems a long time to wait for a restaurant - but I guess even the new fast food area at the Contemporary won't be open for a year (just a temp quick-service location once the Food without Fun Center closes!)
