Anybody have any thoughts?

I had called with this question and was told the restaurants are set up to honor those who check in at the end of 2007 through January 15th, 2008.

I am shocked that they are removing so much from the plan and reducing the price by so little.

I think it's going to be an interesting 'ride' for a while. And it will be truly interesting to see if the change backfires when folks realize it's not quite as a good deal as it has been. We'll change probably to DDE or just eat at our room more; probably both.

well im glad we are using the DDP on this trip. the new deal isnt really a deal....but they dont want it to be. they want you to buy the new 70$$ one. so they arent gonna leave the 37$$ with any perks. i think after this trip...we may just use CS or simply stay offsite where its cheaper...and eat off property. im truly curious to see if this is going to work. are we all just gonna be lead around by the nose and pay whatever they charge? i wonder how many will pay the 70 bucks a day.....or if it will backfire and the TS resturants suffer because folks just cnat afford this.

we will see

Here's how I see it... the MYW plus dining is a "break even" deal without the tip and appitizer. Since the major draw for me was having dining all paid for and there was no need to carry extra cash, it no longer has the same appeal to me.

The deluxe dining plan is only a deal IF you use those 3 meals every day, at table service restaurants, BUT... if you dine at a table service restaurant 3 times a day you'll need an additional $40-60 a day in tips for a family of 4. For my family, that makes the total cost of the deluxe plan a whopping $340 a day! ($280 for the dining plan and up to $60 in tip money). I don't think I can eat that much food in a day if I tried, besides, all that eating would cut into my touring.

Thumbs down

WE ARE PLANNING APRIL 08 TRIP. HAVE NEVER USED DINING PLAN BUT WERE PLANNING TO. NOW IT JUST REALLY DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE. I DID SOME FAST CALCULATING AND FOR US (4 AD-2KIDS) THE PRICE IS PRATICALLY THE SAME OOP, THEN THE EXTRA GRATITUITY PLUS APPITIZER, ITS A BIG NO GO FOR ME. VERY DISSAPOINTED COME WDW WISE UP, THIS DOES NOT MAKE US HAPPY.

We are planning our 08 trip. We have decided not to use the DDP for this trip- the changes are just too drastic. I think we would probably pay about the same if we paid OOP for all our meals. As for the deluxe plan- who can eat 3 table service meals/day? I think it would work if you planned a signature restaurant/dinner show for each day- but otherwise, I think it's a waste of money.

I'd have to really look at the #'s before doing the DDP again. I can give up the appetizer since the appetizer, dinner & dessert was always a very full meal for us. We normally wouldn't have had all that BUT not to include tips is a huge drawback. I don't want to have cash on hand for my meals. And yes there were a few (very few) times where service was less than spectacular, not enough for me to get upset over though

I do know the Deluxe plan is way too much $ unless you do TS meals and then your spending alot of your day in the restaurants...not for us.

Hopefully, there's more free dining in the future (then I won't care if I have to pay for tips )

I never thought of having cash to pay for the tips...I guess it would have to be that way if you used the DDP to cover the meal costs. Unless they'd let you charge the tip to your room. Otherwise, it'd be so much easier to just pay as you go then you can use a credit card or room charge to pay the whole thing without having to worry about having enough cash for the whole trip to cover tips!!

No, you would need to check in by December 31, 2007, and check out by January 15, 2008.

well for us 210 dollars a day is not worth doing the plan anymore 12 days at $2500 plus tips is almost $3000 not worth it can eat for about half that with 1 table meal a day plus counter meal

However, during our last trip (and first try of the dining plan) I noticed that the service was much less compared to when we were paying OOP. It seemed as if the servers didn't care-either way, they were getting their tip.

I wish they would have reduced it by a few more dollars to make up for the losing of the tip and appetizer. I'm anxious to see how this flies with the general public.
