You're correct-and I failed to mention that in my OP. I don't think he'll divorce her because she'd take half the fortune, if not more, since they have the two boys (I think they're twins) together.

I also believe Hef just celebrated his big 81st birthday-and they're all being hush-hush about whether or not he suffered a stroke.

Whatever cooks their pickle-I just hope the Suite is used for the MAW foundation, Give Kids the World, etc.

I would hope WDW would use it for a good purpose (MAW, etc) not for the $$ purpose....

I don't care if I never get a chance to stay in the suite, but I would still rather see it only used by people who won the chance or by Make A Wish or other charities. Those are definitely the people who deserve it!!

Welp, here's one unpopular view.

Disney IS a "For Profit Company". And although they do market themselves as this "magical place for everyone" they do have to answer to their shareholders.

That is...make a profit!

Yes, they will grant it out to Make a Wish and other charities. (The tax deduction in and of itself is worth it, plus the PR) But they would be financially foolish to exclude celebrities and the like from paying top dollar to stay there.

This view that Disney is "all warm is fuzzy" is naive. They are a buisiness. They make money. How they market it is the question.

I work here. Trust me, I'm not naive about Disney being a business that is here to make money. They may decide to rent it out for top dollar. Just saying I wouldn't like to see it go that way.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Disney has already marketed the suite as an option to VIPs. It wouldn't be generally announced, but would've been more of a word of mouth between travel agents of big stars. (However, I doubt that Disney would be all that happy to have a geezer who runs a girlie magazine to bring his three bimbettes to stay in the castle. Just seems to be a conflict of ethics there.

How many girls would hang out with a 80+ year old if he wasn't rich and full of Viagra????It grosses me out to see those young girls throw themselves at that old man.
He won't marry again at least without the worlds largest prenup.

I can't resist a few comments.

First, as to whether the individual in question actually knows the castle suite would be rented... I'm reminded of a line from Fiddler on the Roof, in "If I Were a Rich Man." And it wouldn't make one bit of difference if I answered right or wrong, 'cause when you're rich they think you really know!

Was she confusing WDW with DL? It's possible - DL simply converted a regular suite there - it's far more likely that'd be available in the future. Did she misunderstand the whole YOMD thing? She wouldn't be the first. Is she simply assuming "money talks?" Also possible.

Disney likes good publicity, and after the Decade of Magical Dreams ends, there's every chance that they will continue to use the suite to generate publicity. That means celebrities that will reflect well on the Disney name, Make a Wish families, military families, etc. I don't think they'd make it available solely for Make a Wish, because, alas, there are so many Wish families. Once folks knew they could make that wish, how many would not make it? That means for some (or even many), it would be a wish that couldn't be granted. That's not wish-granting is all about. I suspect they'd make it a rare wish, so as to not raise too many expectations.

I thought the same thing. I saw those photos of the suite in DLH about a year ago or so in an email. My first thought was that I would love to stay there, with a group of course, b/c I couldn't afford it myself, even with a discount! I did hear somewhere that the plan was to make the penthouse available to rent just like any other room or suite in the hotel. To me, that is good business sense. I have not heard anything about the suite in the castle here at WDW.

And no, I am not a bus driver or boat capt.,...just to be clear.

Poor thing. She's sleeping with an 81 year old bag of bones. Let the girl sleep one night in the castle, she's earned it.
