Pluto freaks out

Here is a video that was posted on AOL today of Pluto freaking out! Not sure if it's at MK or Disneyland...the brief article says DL but the link said WDW...

Goodness, I wonder what that kid did to Pluto!! I had to laugh but I hope the kid wasn't scarred for life- imagine being chased by a giant cartoon dog!

it's disneyland (the video says disneyland right on the emporium sign).. it's also a very old video. it was posted on youtube months ago and most seem to think it takes place during the HCOE which ended late 2006 due to the decorations on the lamp posts.

obviously it's impossible to tell what happened prior, but i'd be pretty sure that poor kid did something to provoke it.

what gets me is how many people just stand around and watch and photograph and videotape (including the woman who pushes pluto) instead of trying to help either side.

Is it possible they were playing around? I guess I expected something else. It looks pretty harmless. The worst thing that actually happened was the woman pushing him......lol.
I should add, the kid doesn't appear to be screaming for his life or anything.

I was going to say the exact same thing!!! That kid had to do something to cause that. And I too,was disgusted to watch the people standing around and taking pictures. It must of been pretty bad for Pluto to run like that, those suits are hot and hard to see out of. At the end, to me, it looked like Pluto was signaling that was it, he had enough or something, with his hands.

BTW-where was Pluto's handler??? After the woman pushed him, I expected some Disney official to jump in.

There was a thread about this same video earlier in the Sunroom. I posted some comments taken from the YouTube site about the video - I was curious to the back ground of this video

Pluto Fight video

I sure would like to know "the rest of the story"

disneyland doesn't really have handlers/attendants as much as wdw does. characters are a whole other culture there. because most visitors are repeat locals, they tend to think the phenom isn't quite as popular. sometimes it's manageable, sometimes there is a herd of people and a free-for-all when it comes to taking photos.

as to them playing around, i doubt it. even if that were the case, pluto should know better than to do it in a crowded area like town square and such a large perimeter. i've done a virtual frame by frame analysis elsewhere which i'll spare you here, but if you look at frame 1 below, you'll see at one point, pluto is actually pushing people out of the way to chase the kid.

I agree - I felt that they were moving way too fast to be playing. I would imagine a character pretending to be chasing a kid to be more at a "skipping" pace.

That's just really weird.......we most likely will never know for sure what happened.

That kid must have done something to provoke the "chase" but, don't throw rotten tomatoes at me here, maybe Disneyland just got one bad egg of a CM. I mean, to chase a kid that appears to be about seven? I've got a seven-year-old so I know they're capable of quite a lot. But chasing him just seems a little extreme. Whatever happened, I'm sure Disney will have it straightened out and as quietly as they can (even though we know that's not always very quiet).

This doesn't at all look like the "Tigger Incident" where that 17-or-so kid was obviously at fault and looking for some publicitiy.

I thought about looking at it again to see if it was DL or MK but didn't bother...thanks for clarifying that is was DL.

So if it happened a couple of months ago, I wonder why it showed up on AOL's home page today like it was brand new? And I wonder if the CM got fired or what?

more than a couple of months ago. the post date on youtube is early july i believe but if you go by decor, it's at least a year old.

a few threads popped up on it yesterday on DIS, due to some post on break.com.

Wow! I think Pluto needs some doggy downers. The sad part is that so many people will not offer help. I was once chokeing on a busy street and nobody even slowed down to help!! They looked at me like they were enjoying the show. Sometimes I worry about the human race.
