Did anyone else see this?

Sorry if this has been posted already.

I was reading the weekly update at Mouseplanet this morning. Supposedly the McDonalds portion of Restaurantosaurus is on it's way out. It's kinda a shame because this is one meal I knew Abby would eat really well. She's really fussy when it comes to her chicken nuggets and I don't think the Disney ones will fit the bill for her.

Yep! AllEarsNet.com reported last week that the Mickey D's nuggets and fries were gone and they were serving "Disney" nuggets and fries.

The menus haven't been updated yet, but she had a little "news flash" up on the main page last week.

My DD really liked to go there and get a Happy Meal, so she will be bummed to find out next May that she can't do that anymore.

ETA: Here's the link to May 6th's news bites:

News From Around the World

It also mentions that starting this Wednesday, Restaurantosaurus will be offering a new dessert menu and children's meals.

I wouldn't be sorry to see McDonalds go. I try to steer clear of anything related to the place while in Disney. Andrew would rather have mac and cheese or a hot dog anyway.

As far as I understand, you'll still be able to get McDonald's fries at:

Petrifries in AK
Fairfax Fries in DHS
The Village Fry Shoppe in Fantasyland at MK

And unless they have changed it recently, Refreshment Port at Epcot still has McNuggets and fries (and McFlurrys).

Yes, I saw that. We have never had counter service in AK before, but we were planning on it this time. And guess where we were going? Yep, you guessed it. My kids like WDW nuggets just fine, but DS5 was looking forward to getting a Happy Meal from there (for some reason, he thought that would be cool). Oh, well - no biggie!

I saw that and don't have any feelings either way - it's not somewhere we've ever really eaten. We tend to prefer the table service restaurants when we're in Disney.

It's a disaster for us. McDonalds nuggets are a lifeline for Kat, who refuses to eat WDW chicken strips.

Does anyone know if the Refreshment Port in the WS will remain open? I seem to recall reading that McDonalds is taking ALL of its products out of the parks. Can anyone confirm or deny?

This is actually good news for me. We never ate there because it was McDonald's. The one place I won't eat the fries. I'm a vegetarian and they put beef fat in the fries, so no McDonalds fries for me. This will give us another option at AK.

There is also McDonald's fries and nuggets at Epcot before you get to Canada.

I can't imagine McDonnalds using beef fat anymore. Since it changed to vegetable oil a few years ago. And It would not be on my Grandaughters approved low protein food list if they used Beef fat.

I think they still do as the fries still taste the same as when I was growing up. And that's really the reason why McD's fries taste so different from everyone else's fries.

This is completely off the topic of this thread, but the comment about McDonald's fries got me wondering what kind of oil they use. So I went to the McDonald's website and did a little digging. The ingredient list for the fries says that the oil they are cooked in is:

Quote:
Prepared in vegetable oil ((may contain one of the following: Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, partially hydrogenated corn oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to preserve freshness
But, the ingredient list includes:

Quote:
natural beef flavor (wheat and milk derivatives)*, *CONTAINS: WHEAT AND MILK (Natural beef flavor contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk as starting ingredients.)
So the fries are not cooked in beef fat, but one of the ingredients of the fries is "natural beef flavor". Not sure what that means though!

NOOOOO!!! My DBF and I love our prehistoric fries!!! He is going to be so disapointed when I tell him. I liked that mcdonalds was there but perhaps disney fries and such will taste similar. Oh well!
