| Mickey-shaped clouds anyone?? My local radio station put this out there...article states WDW will be using this machine. Don't know how accurate this is, and I'm not sure I'd want the skies floating with all things Disney ![]() Wired News - AP News

| I don't know about all that. That just seems weird and pointless to me. |

| Since the things would be just a few feet across, it doesn't sound like a replacement for flying banners, etc. Seems more likely that Disney would use it as an effect during a show or special event. At night, these might light-up very nicely in the beam of a spotlight (perhaps a colored spotlight). Seems like something worth working into a fireworks show or parade. These could also be used like snow on Main St. during MNSSHP, perhaps using the Pumpkin Mickey shape. All sorts of interesting possibilities that would seem cool, rather than over the top.

| I'm fascinated by that. Very interesting concept, but I'm not sure how I feel about it, apart from fascinated...

| I think it's neat! Here's a demo of it from the company's website. http://www.flogos.net/Mickey%20h...2015%20sec.wmv

| Check out the FAQ's at Flogos - Flying Logos - Custom Made for Your Event or Business - the company says they are 100% GREEN and environmentally safe. I don't think they could make that claim if it was not true but I'm not sure. Worth a look for those of us with an interest. Ken

| The company specializes in soap-based special effects - "snow," bubbles, and foam. They say their stuff is "evaporative" and leaves little or no residue. In other words, the water in it dries out before or soon after it hits the ground. What would be left is a bit of soap powder. Liquid detergents generally don't evaporate 100%, so I'm willing to believe that this really is soap-based. Since their customers have to be concerned about slip-and-fall accidents, I tend to trust this claim - they sure wouldn't want to be sued by Disney or Universal. They also say it's biodegradable. That claim would have to be true whether it was soap or detergent-based. Soap, as it's made from natural ingredients (mostly fat and lye), is naturally biodegradable. Most or all detergents are required to be biodegradable, too. I looked at the "hazardous materials" info sheet for their snowmaking liquid, which showed that material is not considered hazardous by OSHA, EPA, etc. As to being 100% green... that's always a matter of contention. Yes, soap biodegrades easily, but are there circumstances where that soap, if it got out into a natural ecosysem, might have a negative effect on some life forms? It's conceivable, in high enough levels of exposure, I guess, but it's probably very difficult to measure in the amounts that are used for snowmaking on Main St. When materials biodegrade, it generally means they can be consumed safely by wildlife. Some wildlife may thrive on this new source of food, and squeeze out other life forms that don't thrive on it. In hiking and backpacking there's a favorite saying... "Take only photographs, leave only footprints." It's a great ethic, but if you really want to minimize human impact on the natural world, even photographs and footprints have a downside (such as too many footprints compacting soil, crushing plants, and eroding trails). In other words, there are many shades of "green" (and I'm not talking about a certain resort at WDW). In the big scheme of things, though, I suspect the impact from a bit of soap is nothing compared to the impact from the trash generated in the parks (a little less plastic in souvenir packaging would be nice), or the pollutants released by a fireworks display.
