My daughter and I won Dream Fastpasses at MK. We had just got off of Big Thunder Railroad. As we walked out, they stopped us and asked how many were in our party. Everyone that was on the same train got them.

We were very excited as it was our last day.

We were at Epcot in October, in a very uncrowded innoventions (the one with the Segway) and there was about 10 CMs from the dream team standing in a walkway asking people to start a race, and when we went over they had us stand on a line, said "on your mark, get set, GO!" we took one step and they cheered and bestowed dream fastpasses upon us. Totally scared the pants off DD (who was not quite 5). But it really made our day!!

Found this on the Orlando Sentinal website, in an article about a family who won the "around the world tour of the theme parks" prize:

Quote:
The selection of winners is "totally random," said Faron Kelley, project director of the Year of a Million Dreams for Disney. A computer program determines the exact location and time for each prize to be awarded. Select cast members then descend upon the winners. "It's almost a covert operation," Kelley said.

I have to agree with the others here who have said the magic is just in being there. I'm so lucky to be able to go to the F&WF this year, I'm so not going to worry about whether or not we get anything else. We've had lots of MM's on all our trips 'way before this promotion started. I think a smile and a positive attitude goes a long way w/ the CMs. Actually, it works pretty well at Walmart, too!

We were lucky enough to get Lanyards and Pins on our first trip. Every one in the holding pen area of the Aladdin ride got them. The CMs have receivers (Cells???) that they check and directs them to do the next prize(s). We came very close to the MAJOR award - the family next to us on Main Street waiting for the parade got to sleep in the Castle that night

Yesterday I went to the Disney Travel channel on On Demand and they had a little show about the YOMD and they showed how the winners are picked. According to the show, even the Dream Makers don't know what prize they're giving away until right before it happens. They showed them getting a packet of info that said where in the park, on what ride, in which seat and at exactly what time to award the prize. This particular one was going to be the person sitting in the outside seat on Triceratop Spin at 10:28 am. They showed the ride loading just as the clock changed to 10:28 and they highlighted the seat and we saw the woman sit down. Then after the ride, they caught up to her and awarded her the prize.

Just goes to show, it was totally random. Anyone could have been getting on that ride at that time.

You can't do anything to get picked to win. It's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time and you can't plan it.

Random for the park guests and the cast members. What fun for everyone! I'd love to be a Dream Maker, never knowing who it will be getting the prize.
