| I agree that you can come out cheaper by buying two counter service meals OOP. But we know that because we've done research and had experience. Newer and less wiser visitors would probably buy the plan because of the convenience. Some people like to pay for everything ahead of time and not be bothered on vacation. I think the free mug makes it an even less bargain because if you have a refillable mug your meals won't include a drink at your resort. I'm thinking we pay about $10 for a counter service meal and a drink. So a meal with no drink is in the $7 range.

| It's definitely not worth it for my DH and I since we will sometimes split a CS lunch and each have only a small oatmeal for breakfast which costs $2.50 each and then for dinner each have a CS and maybe one snack during the day. I did the math in my head and it's more than I would spend generally on our CS meals. We're not big dessert eaters with our meals and the dining plan forces that on people since it's part of the package. I'll stick with paying OOP.

| I've been thinking about the new CS vs. the basic plan. I figure I can feed my family 100% on the new CS plan (danish for breakfast at the resort--with the mug providing my beverage, two CS meals for lunch and dinner, and one snack during the day). It is probably about a break even--money-wise. It would be a little more difficult to feed my family on the basic plan (I can still have the danish for breakfast at the resort, but now I need to purchase a beverage, two meals--one TS and one CS, and I would have to purchase a snack). Yes, one of the meals is better (TS) but I also have to pay a tip. So. . . I think CS is a break even, but can cover the entire "meal planning" on vacation. I think basic will save a little money (over paying OOP), but I would also have to chip in to get the full "meal planning" on vacation. I am sad that there is not a plan that will allow me to cover the whole "meal planning" and still have a TS meal. |
