I wouldn't pay much attention to Virgin's DDP pricing. I always more expensive to buy through the UK as Virgin will make their own profit on the DDP. Better to look at the figures and how they compare to each other.

Based upon the fact that there appears to be no increase from 2008 to 2009 in the basic DDP price, I would predict that from next year the prices will be something like:

New CS DDP $28.99 (note that it's 25% cheaper than the basic DDP on the Virgin website)
Basic DDP $37.99
Deluxe DDP $71.99 (going up a dollar or two)

If that's the pricing it would be worth it if you eat a lot of CS meals. I figure an average CS meal with entre/dessert/drink comes to about $15 with tax. Add in 2 snacks a day at an average of $3 each and you'd be getting $36 worth of food. If it's much higher than $28 or $29 I'm not sure I'd take it. I don't always get dessert at every meal so then it is more of a break even proposition.

Hope this is an ADDITION to their current offerings. Sadly, if history is any use, it will probably be used to justify rises in the prices of the existing offerings and have this replace the current one at the lowest price point

If this is implemented, I think it would be another option to the current plan and wouldn't replace it. I could see Disney thinking who is not buying the current dining plan - counter service patrons - and trying to figure a way to get them in as well.

well it has the prices for the DDP right next to it.

something doesn't add up though. because it says the 2008 DDP is 25 pounds which is roughly $50. and the differential between child and adult seems rather extreme in all cases.

but this might all be tied into the UPH which is a much lower cost than US tickets so they may be gouging on the price of dining too. $100 for CM's?

although it doesn't say it's a nightly cost either.

We'll stick with the basic DDP. By late afternoon (when we usually shedule our TS late lunch) Lucas is tired and ready to sit down for a meal. We take our time and relax.

I am picturing the table fights if they ever change the free dining to the 2 TS a day plan lol

I don't see them changing the free dining plan to include anything further-in fact I would bet that if it is offered next year it will be the CS plan.

the number 1 reason my family was grumpy last time we went was because we found ourselves rushing to get to our dining appointments and not able to "be in the moment" because we were always worried about being on time.

I had to promise we would not do the dining plan next time so we could eat "when we felt like it".

I would love a 3 counter service & 1 snack per day meal plan!!!!

this would fit our style so much better......while we enjoy a few of the TS....to be able to to bop around anywhere and have CS already paid for.....that would definatly be something we would consider.

i think it is a great option, howerver i think it would be cheaper in US$. as this year if i had booked my vacation with virgin and not the DVC i would have had to pay £43 per day for my DDP about $84 and not the $69.99 that i can through the DVC. not a lot of saving after tax but it proably covers tips

I actually think this would work best for my family as we like to eat on the go, and don't like being tied down to ADR's. However, we did get free dining this year, and I found I scheduled more Character meals than I would otherwise have been able to afford, and we are trying places we never would have thought of doing without the dining plan, so I think having the TS credits is going to contribute significantly to our vacation. I would hate to lose those. Maybe if they offered a hybrid of these two plans and maybe give you one TS credit for every two or three days? That way you could have a nice sit down meal at a new place you wanted to try or a character meal a few times during your stay. Or give you the option of trading in two or three of your CS credits for a Table Service credit?

I think Disney is very smart about offering this additional plan. Many people don't take a dining package becuase it's too much food and too much time.

After all our sit down meals on this last trip dd & I were talking about doing more cs meals next trip and maybe 1 sit down for the entire trip and I commented that I wished they had a meal plan for that. I would love to see this implimented.
