Yeah, that's what it looks like to me, too Brad. Still trying to find a logical explanation.....

Does spectro have roadway embeded sensors to 'Q' (help, can't spell. Hope you know what I mean ) computers and lights ? If so they couldn't be rerouted...maybe ? Just a thought.

All the parades need those sensors I believe.

Thanks lukeandbrooksmom. Disney magic is more technical than I imagined. Guess its not just 'giddy-up and go' any more for float driving. ( as if it ever was!). Thanks

I don't think there are sensors on the parade route. From what I remember in the behind the scenes things are the sensors are mounted to the floats and receive the signal from the main computer. Also, the characters are on battery packs.

I remember seeing it on Samantha Brown's thing how the parade works. I think that's how it went so it is possible Spectro could be rerouted, but the floats may be too large for any other route than what it normally takes.

Dunno.

There are sensors

If you look closely at the ground as you walk down the center of Main Street, USA ,you will see a series of "pucks" embedded in the pavement. These are actually small sensors used to locate and identify floats along the parade route. As float passes over each of these "pucks," they transmit information back to a central computer (identified as "pageant"). This information is used to synchronize each float with it's music., and ensure that it is in the correct location in relation to the other floats.

In our ongoing quest for continuous improvement, the Magic Kingdom Liberty Square Bridge will be closed from Friday, August 15 through Friday, August 29, 2008, for routine maintenance. The refurbished bridge is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, August 30. During this Maintaining the Magic refurbishment, we are reducing the grade on the bridge, making it easier to navigate for the parade vehicles, carts and other hand-pushed assets that will travel across the bridge, once its reopened.
While the Liberty Square Bridge is closed for refurbishment, additional entertainment enhancements will be offered to minimize any impact this closure might have on our shows and our Guest experience, including the following:
In addition to our normal 3pm Disney Dreams Come True Parade, a second Disneys Dream Come True Parade is planned for 7pm.
Both Disney Dreams Come True Parades will follow a modified route, traveling from Town Square down Main Street, U.S.A., and circling around the Hub and back down Main Street, U.S.A, to step-off at the Fire House area gate.
Because the SpectroMagic parade floats are too large for the modified parade route, SpectroMagic will not be performed from August 15-29. However, additional experiences will be offered in the evening, including additional Castle Shows, extended evening Character meet-and-greets in Town Square and additional performances of the Woodys Cowboy Camp show.
Wishes fireworks will be performed as scheduled

I know where I'll be on our last park day (Aug 30th)...waiting for our only shot to see Spectro Hopefully the refurb doesn't extend beyond the 29th
We missed the parade last trip because of a rain-out and just a few weeks ago I commented to DH "I don't care what else we do...but we're seeing Spectro this time!"

Wish me luck for my last night

Margaret, how long are you staying in August? Maybe you should extend your stay until the 30th!

I wishe WDW would bring back the Electrical Light Parade -- or as my son, when he about 3 called it "the let let light rade". Many years ago....

That being said, nothing beats a good ole Disney light parade...just really loved the music from Electrical....
