Sounds like they're going to start doing seasonal performance schedules. I recall a time a few years ago when it wasn't offered every night on one of my recent trips.

While I'm not saying it's nice that Disney's doing this, it's a pretty common practice. Only a few years ago, MK fireworks was offered just a few nights a week during slower seasons. Fantasmic at Disneyland is also on a seasonal/adjustable schedule. We're very used to having Fantasmic nightly at Studios, but I suspect Disney crunched the numbers and analyzed the guest surveys, and decided they could get away with cutting back on the schedule.

I might be the only one, but I think Fantasmic needs a change. After seeing it twice, I never really plan for it anymore. I think the addition of some new scenes from newer movies is in order at the very least. There are an awful lot of performers in Fantasmic as well. I can't imagine the casting, training, etc. put into that show. Maybe they are having trouble staffing?

I suspect you're right Dave - I'm guessing Disney crunched the numbers too and realised they could get away with this.

I just said to my DH last night that the show has to be very expensive to run. Yes, it packs out, but it does not generate additional revenue. My only question was how much $$ Disney will lose from people leaving the park earlier since DHS will not be providing a "night time show." Perhaps a smaller, cheaper evening entertainment is in the works to keep the crowds?

I really like Fantasmic but I understand the change. However, what I hate is whoever writes the PR spin on this stuff for Disney. They act like they are doing me a favor by having less Fantasmic shows and replacing it with American Idol. It's also the way they acted like closing Pleasure Island was a service to guests. ha haha

I agree that it will cause people to change the way they plan. I am just thinking that with Fantasmic only 2 nights a week, Illuminations & Wishes will be even more packed! Too bad they can't come up with a evening fireworks show for HS and incorporate some great movie music! I would think it would be cheaper than putting on Fantasmic.

I totally agree with you. I saw it in 2002 and 2004 and haven't gone back since. I think they should change it up.
