honey I shrunk the kids play ground

Has anyone heard about them possibly changing this area? The movie came out when I was young, and I have 3 kids, who will probably not have a clue what the thememing is about. My husband whos 31 remembers seeing it at 14.. I was just curious if anyone had heard something.

the rumor being passed around is that it may be rethemed for it's a bug's life.

My son had no idea what the theming was the first time he played there but the second time around I had rented the movie for him before our trip and then it made more sense to him. It is a great place for kids to burn off energy and you don't really need to know anything about the movie to enjoy it.

I'm not sure the theming really matters much in terms of its "play factor." As in, it has fun climb-y stuff, cool props and a safe place for little ones to play. I don't think they even notice the theming.

I can see how Bug's Life would blend in fairly seamlessly, but the HISTK still works for me.

actually, as i've said elsewhere, i consider a bug's land in DCA to be one of the best themed lands in this country. it lends itself perfectly to this type of playground and I only pray they do change the playground to fit it.

last time i was in the HISTK playground was may 07.

and because exactly why i said. a playground in the spirit of a bug's land would blow the current one away.

OK, you win I enjoy your posts and really learn a lot! I haven't been to DL since the early 80's so your input and pics are very important to me! Do you have more photos of the DL playground? Maybe our next trip needs to be out west......

I love the Bugs life land at DCA.. Brad is correct in that it is one of the best themed places. I could have spent hours in there looking at all the props and theming. But I was with 3 teen boys who humored their Aunt by going in it. I wished they were little again and would have wanted to ride the Chew- Chew train more that twice.
I could see where the Bugs life could easily take over HISTP area.
Brad one of my favorite signs in the Bugs life land is where the sign leading to an off stage area says " Worker Bees" only. The Entrance made from Cereal boxes and Straws. Makes me want to go back and take it all in again

My little one loves the HISTK area but I would think that she would love it if the theme changed as well...I don't think she ever really knew where the theme was from anyway...she just loves the chance to climb and run around...
