| We've been watching bits and pieces of it on Youtube so that DD better understands Splash Mountain. My grandmother had the record and book when I was small... I love the stories, and dd has been enjoying them too!! |

| My MIL has been waiting and waiting for this movie to come out. It was only produced and shown in theaters a LONG time ago. It received such backlash as politically incorrect, that Disney (particularly Micheal Eisner) has not, nor has it considered ever releasing it on VHS/DVD in the US. Any copies that anyone has are pirated copies from overseas, as Disney will NOT release it in the States. (Guess its not as offensive to those not in the US) Saying that, I will also say I looked on Ebay and bought a copy for my MIL (Ok, I was sukcing up!!) Anyway, there were RUMORs that once Michael Eisner left, there would be consideration of releasing SOTS on DVD/VHS. So maybe now they are considering it???

| 2 years ago we went and visited my hubbys uncle. He had it on VHS. Someone had gotten it on tape and then made him a tape. The only thing was that it did have the words in a foreign language across the bottom of it but thats the first time I had seen it in forever. I have seen a couple dvds on ebay and sorry ot say I am thinking about buying one to add to my collection. I love this movie.

| I don't think it will ever be rereleased... especially with teh current feel of the country... unfortunately I think that means we're ignoring an important part of history/film... but that's just my take on it. no, I'm not African-American, and no I've never seen it... but it's a Disney-fied version of the slave stories... I don't think that's PIC... much less a bad thing that needs to be vaulted. like my mom said - she never thought less of or whatever of Uncle Remus, he's actually one of her favorite disney characters.

| I ordered a copy from a site on the internet. My DS (7) watched it- he loved it. Loved Uncle Remus. His first response when it was over "What's so bad about the movie? I think it was great. Can't wait to ride Splash Mountain again."

| It's very sad that we as a country tend to try to "rewrite" history. It is what it is. I loved SOTS growing up I had the Disney record of the music. I hope one day to get the DVD...a sanctioned release, but doubt it.

Unfortunately, the store is gone, so the only option for Americans is to buy a copy from somewhere in the UK and find a place to get a copy made that can play on US TVs. | |

| yet another example of american misuse of the english language.. so if in the future, a politician can take a common phrase and turn it to mean somethig evil, it's gone! unfortunately. |

| that's a little backwards to be honest. in all fairness, when the politicians in question used the term tar baby, they meant it exactly what the tar baby was, a trap that you couldn't get out of. i don't believe mccain was intending to use a racial epithet in reference to obama for example. it was a racial epithet long before it was used by mccain, romney and others. here's some optional reading: The Black Commentator - Tar Baby Outrage! what doesn't matter is how one person may interpret a word, it matters how it impacts others. and the least we can do is try to understand and respect others and accept that what's meat to one is poison to another.
