Exclamation Window decorating fee rumor

I was just told this by a friend who got it from Mouseplanet.com update for this week.

Quote:
…Some of our readers are complaining about an apparent policy change regarding window and room decorations placed by guests during their stay. Apparently the policy has the guests being assessed a fee for decorating their room windows. As a number of our readers enjoy decorating their rooms, especially for the Halloween and Christmas seasons, this is causing some consternation. We have asked Walt Disney World for the details of this new fee/policy as well as the reasoning behind it. It will appear on my blog when we receive it, as well as in next week's Park Update. Meanwhile, you can join the debate on our MousePad discussion forums.
anybody else hear anything like this???

I heard about this a while back, but it seemed few and far between -- basically, if the mousekeeper had to do any extra labor to remove the window decorations, or if the decorations required scraping (for fake snow) or cleaning, then the guest would be charged. If they just hung some tinsel and lights, they weren't being charged.

That's interesting. What's the purpose? Unless people weren't taking the decorations down when they checked out and left it for housekeeping to clean up.

I hadn't heard that and certainly hope it isn't true. We decorate our room and balcony every Christmas trip. We aleways take the decorations down before we leave

Heard rumors, but like Eileen, though it was due to people not cleaning up after themselves

i've probably mentioned it before, but all i could find was a post i made on DIS over a year ago. Window displays? - The DIS Discussion Forums - DISboards.com

i've heard of cases where disney has warned of charging $25 for cleaning services after a guest has decorated the windows. it's usually when done with scotch tape or the like.

as we all know, DCL has already taken this one step further and banned anything non-magnetic from being on the doors.

Could it be due to need to clean the windows to remove tape, spray on stuff etc?????

EDITED - due to a time lag with me and the computer, there were several posts that mention this very thing! OOPS!!

Sounds reasonable if you don't clean up after yourself, then you get charged....I usually just use magnets on the door a la DCL. Works for me!
I jsut hope that a few bad eggs don't spoil it for others!

I believe someone here mentioned it a couple months ago, but like Eileen said it was because they did not clean up after themselves. If it was not this board, then maybe it was on Allears.

Well I think if you don't clean it up before you leave then $25 sounds
reasonable.

I've heard that guests who use magic marker -- even washable -- have been told they will be charged $25 if they do not remove it. The other is the tape issue. Just from using tape at my office, I know what problems it can cause if it is not removed properly. And with the FL heat, I can see this being a huge mousekeeping time-consuming project. The only other I heard was tape on painted surfaces. Tape sure can ruin a paint job if not taken off properly.

I haven't heard that you cannot decorate. I've only heard about the products you use to adhere items to your window/door/surfaces.
