| Ice Cream for Breakfast It's our 17th Annual Ice Cream for Breakfast morning.
We have ice cream for breakfast on Black Friday. Yessireee, we may be full, but we are heading out to Friendly's this morning for a peanut butter sundae. It's a good way to start the season.
This started after we came back from our hunnymoon the day before Thanksgiving. We spent Thanksgiving with my former roommate and her family at her mom's house in Huntingon, PA.
After a night of gorging myself, Nancy's mother Thelma announced when we got up to get dressed warmly (it had snowed), that we were going out for breakfast, and it was going to be ice cream. So off we went, hats, gloves and coats, and sweatpants.
I took pictures of Camille eating a black raspberry ice cream cone with snow around her with her mittens and hat on.
Later that morning we were shopping on Main Street (only one stop light in Huntingdon at the time), and were in this wonderful little women's clothing shop trying on stuff. Two ladies were in the dressing room too, talking about this family they had seen "eating ice cream at 8:00 am in 20 degree weather!". I popped my head out of the dressing room and announced it was us.
Anyway, we've been having ice cream for breakfast since then on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Pat and Grace are still asleep, but Rachel and I are gearing up. We had ice cream at home only when I was too pregnant with Grace to venture out (it was the week before she was born and I was on bedrest), or when we had a house full of stomach virus and never even had dinner.
Cheers, and let holidays begin! |

| Re: Ice Cream for Breakfast Joan - I love your tradition! You reminded me of something we did shortly after DH and I moved out on our own into our first place. We both called our parents one night and told them we were having ice cream sundaes for dinner - without the bananas or cherries on top. No healthy fruit for us! Now we christen each new house with an ice cream sundae dinner after we move in. |

| Re: Ice Cream for Breakfast There were many of us eating ice cream this morning and not just here in Maryland! Everyone is welcome to join in! I got a call from Nancy and Thelma from Pensacola, Florida this morning. They were on their way to eat ice cream. They are visiting Nancy's inlaws, but only Nancy, her DH, DD and Thelma went out to celebrate.
And Camille and Neil were in PA this morning, and stopped for a cone somewhere.
Next year I'll remind everyone to eat ice cream on Black Friday to start the season. |
