Woohoo! Mommy wins! DJ is eating pork and kraut!

I am delighted! Given the choice of eating pork and kraut now or yogurt and an apple in an hour (gotta give him some incentive to eat the meal I made ), DJ chose the pork and kraut now.

Just so you know - I'm not being the meanest Mommy ever - he did have a snack this afternoon and is far from starving.

This is only the second time I've ever had pork and kraut without mashed taters. (It's a Lehigh Valley thing, I guess.) Kinda weird not to be able to mix it all up. DJ is definitely missing the mashers. He gobbled up the green beans and said "where's the taters?"

Thanks to the thread some time back about pork roast, I left out the beer and tried it with all apple juice this time. BTW - I do NOT like canned kraut. Bagged or homemade is much better. Apple juice sans beer.

Chrissi,

Ditto on the canned kraut I buy the bagged kraut in the refrigerated section. MY DH grew up in the Lehigh Valley(Emmaus) and we must always have taters, so I know he would be asking the same thing as DJ.

My grandma used to make pork and kraut and mashed potatoes at least twice a month for Sunday dinners. It is now one of my family's favorite meals. I don't like canned kraut either, I buy either the bagged kind or the kind in the glass jar.

There's kraut in a bag? Where?

Not a lot of people here eat sauerkraut. I love it, though.

He's a bigger man than me! Kraut - yuck! although I don't like yogurt, either, so that would have been a lose/lose situation for me!

Heck, last night we got DJ to eat chicken egg foo young with chinese chicken gravy sauce. We told him it was an omelet. He'll eat anything if you tell him what it's made of - unless he knows I cooked it. He refuses to eat my cooking. We have to pretend that DH cooked every meal to get DJ to try it.

That's hilarious!

I'm glad he tried and liked the Egg Foo Young. That stuff is good.
