Slow-cooker Oatmeal Recipe Needed

I have heard that you can cook oatmeal in a slow-cooker (crock pot) overnight and wake up to the good stuff.

I have some real Scottish oats (Bob's Red Mill Organic Scottish Oats, or porridge) in the refrigerator that I would like to try out with this method, but I'm not sure how to do it. The original recipe (stove top method) calls for a 3:1 ratio of water to oats. No problem. But would I use that same ratio in a crock pot? I plan on setting the control to "low".

If anyone has done this before, please enlighten me. I haven't a clue.

I've never done this, but I found this recipe on Food Network : Cooking, Recipe Collections, Party Ideas, Quick & Easy Recipes, Cooking Videos. This is Alton Brown's recipe. He prepared it on one of his shows. Good luck.

Overnight Oatmeal

1 cup steel cut oats
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup dried figs
4 cups water
1/2 cup half-and-half

In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients and set to low heat. Cover and let cook for 8 to 9 hours.
Stir and remove to serving bowls. This method works best if started before you go to bed. This way your oatmeal will be finished by morning.

Thumbs up Baked Oatmeal

King Arthur's Flour Whole Grain Baking Book has some great ways to bake oatmeal you should try some time.
