Not as snazzy as Yvonne's new toy, but I LOVE my new...

rice maker/steamer! My mom has had one for YEARS and I've never brought myself to getting one. Well, I got a coupon for $10 off at Kmart if I used my Sears card, so bit the bullet and got a pretty red one for about $15! What a nifty gadget...LOVE that I don't have to watch the rice/veggies! I've not had it off the counter all week, it's been put through it's paces!

What is your favorite gadget at the moment?

My Magic Bullet mixer. I get carried away and try to make things in it that I shouldn't though. Like shredded carrots for salad. They come out more pulverized than shredded.

I'm afraid I'll always be a microwave fan. DH is spending a lot of time and TLC getting to know our "new" stove from the 50s.

This reminds me of my aunt. She loves her Magic Bullet and decided that she would put all the ingredients for a breakfast casserole (eggs, bread, sausage, cheese) in there to "pulse" it, but it came out as mush. She cooked it anyway and tried to get us to eat it, but it was awful!

I have had happy accidents come out of my Magic Bullet, too, though. One day, I threw the fixins for an omelet into it without the egg. Just some canadian bacon and portobello mushrooms. It came out looking like hash, so I panfried it with a little spray of canola. It was the best lowcarb hash ever! I make it often for a treat on weekends.

Not that it's a kitchen gadget, but I can't live a day without it: my laptop.

I have had a rice steamer on my want list for a long time. I think they're so cool and we eat a ton of brown rice.

Chrissi, question about your magic bullet

What do you use it for most? I was thinking of getting one but I'm not sure how much I would use it. I saw it Costco for $49 and I almost grabbed it but I want to make sure I'll use it.
