My mom used to cheat making pierogies by using won-ton skins instead of making dough. Stuff them with mashed potatoes and cheese. Boil them, then fry with some onions. My Russian dad got them as a special birthday treat.

My family is mostly German and we used to eat this a lot as kids. I had a friend who was very Irish (her mother was Irish and her fathers mother was too). Anyway I had her over to my house one night when my Mom was serving this. She was not too sure about this. I told her to taste mine and if she didn't like it she could have syrup. She loved it. From then on whenever she was over she wanted chicken and waffles.

Ummmm.. Chicken & Waffles!!! Mom use to make this and we always thought of it as a PA Dutch recipe. This is one of those recipes that you don't knock it until you've tried it Was always one of our favorites.
