| Crock pot "summer foods" I always use my crock pot for hearty comfort foods -- stews, roasts, things like that. Winter comfort foods. But it struck me the other day that it would be a great thing in the summer because it doesn't put heat into the kitchen. So, does anyone have any recipes for lighter "summer" fare that are cooked in a crockpot?

| I cook my pork roast for pulled pork in the crockpot all year long. I also plug it in outside on the patio so less heat in the kitchen as well. And the dogs can't reach the table outside either. |

| I make shredded beef, pork or chicken BBQ in it in the summer. Also, saurkraut and hot dogs.

| I usually only use my crock pot for meatballs, chile, and pork, and I do them in the summer. I bring my crock pot camping sometimes!

| I make Sloppy Joes the traditional way hours before people come over, and then put the mixture in the crockpot. When it's time to eat, I just set the crockpot up next to the rolls and the salads.

| Pulled pork, brats and kraut, stewed squash and zucchini. I've even stewed fruit in there to top ice cream with.
