Seasonal cooking

I was just looking over the topics in this forum and I realized that my summer menus are almost entirely different from other times of the year. I don't even own an outdoor grill but the recipes that appeal to me in summertime are entirely different from the winter/fall ones I rely upon. Do other cooks do this too?

Absolutely! Summer in our house means grilling. And while I will grill in the winter occasionally, it's not at all like in summer when we grill 3 - 4 times per week. Plus we tend to eat more salads in summer. Winter means stews, soups, lasagna, etc.

In the summer we grill out for most meals. We also eat a lot more fruits and veggies in the summer. It seems that I don't have the oven on as much during the summer.

DH grills year round, but we do tend to eat differently in the summer than we do in the winter. Winter is time for roasts, soups, lasagna, chili, etc. During the summer we do more salads, sandwiches, fruit. I rarely use the oven in the summer time. One of DH's favorite things to grill in the winter are roasts but in the summer he does more chicken, steaks, burgers, etc.

Same here! Summer is light food and grilling. Lots of salads. Winter is heavier food and comfort food....stews, one pot meals, and soups

We grill year round, but I do find that I like to eat salad more during the summer months.

We grill a lot more in the summer. When it's hot, we can't bear to have the oven on, so we have a lot more salads as well.

We eat a lot of salads (taco salad is DH fav) and sandwiches for dinner. It's too hot most evenings to eat too much. Sometimes I'll just make a couple of batches of buttermilk biscuits and get a spiral ham. We'll have ham biscuits with baked beans and apple sauce for a week. I'm blessed with a DH who will eat whatever I put in front of him (except sloppy joes) and will eat it until it's gone. I usually give up on leftovers before he does.

during the fall and winter I make stews, roasts and casseroles. I also bake more goodies. I'm hard pressed to bake you a cookie in the summer but in the fall/winter - no problem!

We are definitely seasonal eaters - I have summer recipes, winter recipes, certain things we don't eat at certain times of year (we only eat soup in the fall/winter, etc.)
