At our middle school all the kids take shop and home ec like courses and my 13 year old son gets really mad when I don't measure perfectly like they do at school when we bake at home.
Baking - always
Cooking - usually. The first time I'll measure to give the recipe a fair shot. After that, it depends on what the ingredient is. Or I may use the appropriate measuring spoon to get close, but not obsess over whether it's level.
Oh no, I am soooo toast when Disdadnmi read this post. I knew as soon as I read it I was going to hear about it. No! No! No! I don't measure. Most things turn out ok, I think I am pretty good at it.
