| Is that really true? I've never heard of that. Has anyone else done that?

| This is a great thread... I'm really thinking about starting a garden this year. I do a small herb garden every summer, but I'd love to grow more veggies. One thing I have been doing is learning more about organic gardening, and not using pesticides of any kind. I guess working for an organic yogurt company is making more 'granola' after all

| Thanks for the article. I've never had a Jersey tomato and didn't know that Jersey was famous for them. Around here everyone goes crazy for Arkansas tomatoes. When they come out, I make a special stop at the store for them. We'll each eat one at night in either a salad, as the salad, or stuffed with tuna salad. I'm ready for tomato season.

| My grandfather used tomatoes and rhubarb to keep out the deer. He had a HUGE garden! We have some small coyotes here in the country where we live now that keep the deer in check, so we don't worry about it a whole lot. Ants are our big problem.

| OK, so far I bought 5 pots of beautiful herbs. I now have 5 pots of dead herbs. I shall keep trying, though!

| It's still too early to buy or plant anything here. May 1st is the earliest date for us.
