| Bally Total Fitness-Buyer beware Just wanted to give folks a heads up for anyone thinking about joining Bally Total Fitness. DON'T. My club is closing effective Friday (we and the employees only found out last week). I was able to cancel my membership easily as it was a month to month payment, but now I am trying to get a refund for my unused training sessions. We have to send it in writing and they will "review" my request to see if I am eligible, I am like you're kidding right, you close my club, I am not going to travel 20 miles for a gym and you have to review my request. And of coruse this is after spending at least 20-30 minutes each call to get a live body as they have closed 26 clubs. The fax number they gave me is a remote busy, so I think it's offline. I have also recently read an article that where someone commented that he had a friend who works for Bally's corporate that said they will be closing all the clubs in July so anyone who may already be a meember I would watch out on renewals or training packages. COuld be total rumor but wanted to put it out there. Not sure if this is the right place or not but just wanted to give folks a proper heads up. I wouldn't want anyone else to pay for something that they may not be getting.

| Thanks God!! Now I can finally get out of my membership contract that they wouldn't let me cancel after I moved 30 min away. No way I am going to spend an hour in the car to go roundtrip to a gym.

| Same thing is happening in our area at Peak Fitness. Many are closing. If fact, our state's Attorney General won't let them sell memberships that run more than month to month at this point.

| I do have a bit of an update, I have spoken with someone and it looks like I am going to be able to get a refund and should have it within a week. It was still very sad that my gym closed though, it was like a little family in my aerobics classes. Good news is that a bunch of us have joined another one near the old one and have all be attending classes so I still get to see some folks.
