| Attention Texans...I need recipe help! I need some Texas recipe help. To give you a little background…a group of our friends (& us) get together about once a month for “gourmet club” (believe me…it’s not so gourmet when it comes to the people, we just like to be fancy-schmancy), each time there’s a different theme. This time it’s a Texas theme. I’ve been assigned “sides” (steak is the entrée). I was thinking of making Texas-style baked beans and one other side item. Another friend is making Texas-style chili as the “soup” course, so that’s out. So…my question is…do you have a great baked beans recipe and/or have any suggestions as to what to make as a Texas-style side? We try to make things that are different (so like, a baked potato would be not be something I would make – even though I’d love to, cuz it would be easy). The party is on Saturday, so if you could let me know anytime up to Friday, I would SO appreciate it!

| Ok I'm not from Texas but hubby is from San Antonio. My step-daughters and their families still live in Texas. How about Jalapeno Poppers - 14565 - Recipezaar They can be made to be mild. They are also called armadillo eggs or shipoke eggs. Serve with a little ranch dressing on the side. Another thing is homemade fresh pico with chips:Pico De Gallo - 33861 - Recipezaar Here's a tip: many local mexcian restaurants will sell you a bag of fresh tortilla chips that are much better than store bought, much cheaper and they're hot too. They can be reheated in a low temp oven. Texas to me says margaritta with salsa and chips with the salsa being fresh. Or BBQ brisket and beans made with add'l brisket like this recipe: Jack Stack Barbecue Beans Recipe : : Food Network I know it's from KC but it's still ![]()

| I would go with the Jalapeno cornbread or some kickin baked beans. I found these recipes and they look great. The Sweet Corn and Queso Mashed Potatoes and Jalapeno Grits sound wonderful. ..:: Dean Fearing ::..
