| I was positively gobsmacked yesterday when I discovered a listing of many gluten-free menu items available at Knoebels Amusement Resort while I was perusing their website planning our trip. That's new for this season! I didn't realize gluten-sensitivities were so common now. They don't even have a peanut-free menu! It's at the bottom of this page: Knoebels Amusement Resort Food & Picnicking

| Thanks for the heads up, Chrissi (and Crystal ) -- looks like I may have to check out Knoebels. Not that I'm a trend-follower or anything but I'm glad to see the new awareness by eating establishments.FYI - 1 in 133 people are suspected of having Celiac Disease -- an intolerance to gluten -- and more have sensitivity to it. Lucky us, my son was just diagnosed with CD last week. (Type 1 diabetics have a 1 in 10 chance of adding CD to their list of reasons "The Big D" stinks!) I know that Pizzaria Uno has a gluten free menu as does Carrabas and a few other places like Chick-fil-a. Eileen

| DJ's pediatrician recently told us that he had read about some studies that suggested young children like DJ with ADHD may be more sensitive to gluten as well, so we're trying to scale back on gluten and keep a food journal to see if it makes any kind of significant difference in his behavior. It'll be of greater concern during the school year, but no harm in seeing how it works out now. ![]()

| Chrissi, my SIL's nephew has ADHD and is one of the kids for whom a gluten-free diet does wonders for his behavior. His family can actually tell when he's been "glutenized" because he reverts back to bad habits. I hope it works for you guys too! Eileen PS - our intro to GF foods has been pretty good so far. I really like the Gluten-Free Pantry's sandwich bread mix -- worked GREAT in my new bread machine!

| Grace is gluten/casein intolerant. It affects her from inside to the outside. When she was little her eczema was horrid, and I did not know at the time that g/c was the culprit. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the cause, after I had her "soak" in oatmeal baths. Oatmeal. A big gluten no no for her. It would be like giving a kid with hayfever allergies a bath filled with oh, say forsythia. Oh the mother-guilt! Look into fish oil and other Omega-3 and 6 supplements for ADD/HD too. All my ADD family members eat it like candy now. And we have shiny coats. Cleared her skin like (insert snap of fingers). Weenie too. He knows the sound of the container. Keeps his tummy from having dry flaky skin. I know, kinda creepy. |

| But... how's your belly skin doing? Eileen PS - what GF Omega3 supplements have you found? CJ won't eat the gummy ones and I've got to find something that doesn't smell or taste yucky...
