| Good bento article I saw this from "Biggie" -- the mom behind the Lunch In A Box forum (at Lunch in a Box: Building a Better Bento) Sayonara, baloney - The Globe and Mail The simple explanation of bento proportioning and colors is at the very bottom. Great pictures too! Eileen

| Great article! I've been in a bento slump lately. I really need to start prepping bento-friendly foods to freeze and use for mine and DJ's park lunches during the school year and I'm having a bento block about what I want to make and freeze. If you don't mind me asking, Eileen, is there anything specific you make ahead to use for bentos? I could use some inspiration! I've been haunting your blog for ideas, too.

| Chrissi, I do like to make meatballs and meatloaf and then freeze them before packing them up for quick bentoing later. I've also made chili and portioned it out into silicon cups for freezing -- once frozen, you can remove the cups! I've also frozen tonkatsu (pork cutlets), but they didn't "recover" from freezing quite as well. What about corn muffins with bits of hotdog in them -- that was a big favorite here! I definitely like to make gelatin and fruit cups in small containers and keep them in the fridge for easy grabbing. I pulled a bunch of "lunch-making" recipe books from the library and tried some stuff, but the DS is less than adventurous when it comes to eating, so most of it is waiting for his tastes to mature. Eileen

| Don't we love canadian news papers!!! LOL With DD in school now and me going back, I'll be making her some cute bento too. She loves quiche, omelets and you can freeze those too. Chicken nuggets and smiles potatoes (french fries shape in a happy face). I did some bento for her at summer camp and some moms started too after their kid asked for "cool lunch" like my DD
