| I made my favorite soup last night! It was something my mom used to make when we were kids and I've totally hooked my DH on it as well. It's ham and potato soup or "stew" -- it's rather thick. (I put the recipe on my blog) It's incredibly easy-to-make and cheap, cheap, cheap! Plus it freezes and reheats well -- in fact, I think it gets better when you heat it up again. The best part of the process was trying to take a bento picture for this morning's blog update: ![]() Kenzie was verrrrrry willing to help Daddy take care of his lunch. Eileen

| We make that too. The only changes are that we use new potatoes and add bacon. We do not use the vinegar either but I will have to try it. I make it in a giant roaster for family functions when the fresh green beans of summer are ready. We cook it down so its more of a side dish. |

| OH....that looks sooooo good! My mom and grandmas all used to make something similar with leftovers...I wonder if grandma's recipe is in her cookbook? When she passed she left me all her handwritten cookbooks...I cherish them, and they actually still live at my mom and dads...I am too scared to ship them anywhere...they are priceless. Thanks for your recipe...I will try it! |

| My potato and ham soup (comfort food at its best) has carrots in it. Your photo looks so great that I think I need to add green beans the next time I make it!

| My DM used to make this soup when we were little and as also made a butter bean ham version that rocked also. It's the same reciepe but instead of potatoes you use butter beans. They are about the same size so you really don't miss much.
