| What do you eat with your Winter-time Soups? Just wondering what you eat with your bowl of soup when you're having soup for dinner? We do watch our carbs so having a sandwich every time we eat soup isn't really a great options, although I still would like to hear what you eat even if it is a sandwich. Just wondering what I can be serving with the soup that doesn't give us a huge carb load.

| We generally do bread of some kind too. In fact, it's generally the only time (other than holidays) that I serve bread with a meal. Sorry. What about soup and salad?

| Either we'll have a sandwich to go with our soup or DH likes to make fresh bread in the breadmaker. Sometimes we'll even have a salad with our soup.

| Being of French descent, I like a crusty baguette to sop up soup with. I also like a simple field green salad with a tangy vinaigrette. ![]()

| Soup is usually the meal all by itself. I make a loaf of bread to go with it. Looks like we're all a bunch of carb eaters!

Now, it depends on what's in the soup/stew -- if it has lots of carbs, then we will try for something else. This summer, I was into having grapes, apples or berries as a "side" and my guys would eat those happily. Not sure that this translates in winter with soups, so I'm interested to see what others come up with. Eileen

| I'm with the rest - carbs, pure and simple. Stews - croissants or some other soft, light, fluffy bread Chili - Corn bread soup - hard crusty bread like a baguette We almost always also have a salad. Fruit after ward is always good. Think I'm going to make a huge pot of chili for tomorrow's dinner now. |

| My husband grew up in Kentucky and he said his grandma made the best FRIED cornbread. When we were first together, I tried a few times to make it for him, but never quite got it right. LOL Oh well. I tried. You've given me some ideas. I thought we were odd to eat salad with it, and I have several good homemade dressing I make so that seems to make it better. Yes, we've even had fruits next to ours as well as Eileen suggested. Glad we're not the only ones.
