If you came to St. Louis I would take to Charlie Gitto's downtown for dinner, then to Crown Candy for lunch and a milk shake, breakfast Three Monkeys Brunch....there are so many wonderful places in the Lou.....from the Grove to the Hill even in the burbs....YUM
Oh, the Hill!! I went to Mizzou for grad school. Very little time to venture out of Columbia, but when we managed to get to StL we went to the Hill for Italian! Can't recall the name of the place - this was like a hundred years ago - but there was some hole in the wall that served the best Italian ever!
Darn! I just finished an hour of Wii Active and Zumba. That deli sliced chicken sandwich for lunch is just not appealing to me now. Want large pan of lasagne. And garlic butter bread sticks. Now.

If you came in for a visit here to Chicago, we'd be sure to take you to Gino's East for Chicago style deep dish pizza, Portillo's for either the Chicago style hot dogs or the Italian beef and Harry Carey's Restaurant not just for the food, but for the memorabilia.
If you came to Omaha, I would take you to Brother Sebastians for steaks. Not only does it have great food, but it has a pretty interesting atmosphere -- the whole thing is made to look like a monastery. You get seated in different rooms -- the sanctuary, library, wine cellar, etc. If you're really lucky, you get seated on the "roof" in a rooftop garden complete with a starry sky.
It would be a hard choice, though. They say we have the highest restaurants per capita ratio in the U.S. (but I don't know if that's really true or not). There's a lot of really great places to eat here.

We do not live but a few blocks from the Hill and we eat there all the time. YUM! yes there are a ton of hole in wall palces for great food in STL....
Here, Niko's for Stromboli and greek salads or Bert's 50's Diner for sandwiches, milkshakes, pizza, Keno and atmosphere. Seafood is seafood around here, there are so many places that are about the same.
All kidding aside, we have a lot of really great Greek diners here, but you'd have to go on the wing tour of Buffalo/Niagara Falls and taste all the different sauces.

I know it's up for debate but here in Austin it's the Salt Lick for BBQ, Jalisco or Casa Chapala for Mexican, Carmelo's or North for Italian, Mighty Fine for an awesome burger, Bob & Mikes for the most amazing Chicken fingers, for cake Upper Crust Bakery, and Amy's for Ice Cream served with flair!
Not sure how I forgot Sebastian Joes??? Maybe because it is winter and I haven't been there in awhile. I also forgot to add the 5-8 Club in Minneapolis with their Juicy Lucys!
After reading about everyone's favorite places to eat, I am hungry again!
