I used to work for a chocolate factory and I'm a bit of a chocolate snob. I can't stand cheap chocolate!

Basically, nothing fake or with ingredients I cannot pronounce. A few off the top of my head: Maple syrup has to be the real deal, yogurt is plain Greek with no gelatins or other weirdness added, and I only buy Kerrygold butter.

I am quitting Whole Foods Market in Long Beach for the El Segundo store. I will miss the people there. El Segundo market has three American goat cheese brands, other brands, gourmet crusted goat cheese, cream cheese in goat, and variety such as smoked, mozarella, cheddar, feta, and soft. I wanted Meyenberg goat butter but Long Beach carried one expensive imported brand.

I try very hard to get food that is hormone free and made with good stuff that I can identify. My latest passion is Sugar Beets vegan and gluten free chocolate cake balls.

Being 50% Czech, I am very snobbish when it comes to a kolacky (a fruit-jam filled pastry). My grandma could make some of the best homemade kolackys... mmm . Otherwise, I grew up without excessive amounts of money, so I tend to look for deals and bargains. My fiancee on the other hand...

Yuck!! I hate when people make "flavored" pudding!! I make my vanilla pudding, from scratch and all REAL bananas! And do not just use old bananas that are almost rotten - those are NOT the kind to use in 'Nana pudding!

Indulgences: We're not real brand specific, but I guess the list of things I insist on is kind of long:
REAL butter
Real Maple Syrup
Sea Salt - and preferably pink
fresh herbs that I dry and grind on my own
pork chops have to be from the loin
hamburger - ONLY make at home, you never know what the grocery/chain/factory put in there!

I'm pretty picky about my coffee. I will bend down to Folgers if the wallet dictates , but I like to buy Tim Hortons (by the can to make at home) . I like World Market Italian Expresso Roast too, but don't get it often . I only will buy ground chuck , because they don't mix it with surprises like they do with hamburger. DD23 and DD19 have both been butcher's assistants.

Other than that I am just picky about quality, not so much brand.

We only buy Heinz ketchup, real Coca Cola (there are a ton of other "colas" around here, not just Pepsi), Milka chocolate, and Rolinck beer (my DH is particularly picky about the last one, while I couldn't care less )

My husband is all about maple syrup, so we get the good stuff for him. Me, I prefer Cane syrup.

Ashli can I get that banana pudding recipe? I have never heard of it before.

For me it is chocolate. I can't stand the cheap stuff (chocolate easter rabbits or if people freeze it ).
I like Dream Whip and not cool whip.
Heinz Ketchup- no other brands.
The little jelly beans and not the bigger ones that you get at Easter. I am totally addicted to these which is strange........

I tend to be pretty easy when it comes to food. I have a lot of friends who can't afford real or name brand stuff, so I have learned to adapt. One thing that is consistent with me is that I REFUSE to drink store brand or no name cola. Give me Coke or give me Pepsi. I will drink store brand orange and grape and rootbeer, but my cola needs to be Coke or Pepsi.

One more think I am pretty snobby about.....given the choice between Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks coffee, Starbucks wins every time. I don't care that I have to go out of my way and get out of the car for a coffee at Starbucks, yet there is a DD on EVERY corner.

Sure! This is a good recipe: Classic Banana Pudding Recipe
(You can also add a layer of whipped cream on top as well....because really, you can never have enough whipped cream, right? )

My FAVORITE banana pudding is from Lady & Sons restaurant (Paula Deen's place...although oddly enough I don't think it's the same as her "Not Yo Mama's Banana Pudding" recipe, which is the only one of hers I can find), but I don't have the recipe .

Banana pudding is soooooo good though. I hope you enjoy it!
