You can have a favorite recipe you've made countless times without incident. But when you make it to take somewhere, the center falls, or it cracks, or it just looks lousy ?
I hope it tastes okay!

Oh my gosh, this happens to me all the time.
I'm sure it will still taste amazing.
Seriously, I think it HAS to happen that way. I made these peanut butter brownie cookies that are ridiculously simple and I had made them five thousand times before, to take to a work party. Of course they came out flat as a board instead of nice and chewy and fluffy, and the peanut butter balls fell out if you so much as looked at them the wrong way.
I TOTALLY know what you mean! I make something all the time and it's awesome - then I make it for a family get together or work and something always goes wrong!
My Murphy's law is that the time I have to take it to a bake sale is the time one of the dogs decides to take it off the counter while I'm not looking.

Eileen, here it's not the dog, it's DH!! He's forever cutting off a piece of cake or pie I was taking for someone else. I've started making cupcakes instead, and think I'm going to resort to mini-tartlets for all pie type things!

Eileen, this made me laugh.....and Teresa, you are so not alone in this

I know this story! Once, I made a "pumpkin crunch" (kind of an upside down pumpkin pie) for a pot luck and when I got out of the shower found my golden retriever standing up and eating the center of it right on the counter where it was cooling!
Yup, or when company is coming. Icing or coolwhip/dream whip works wonders to cover things up.
Last Thanksgiving, our friend who is a Priest, surprised us and brought over his Bishop and only gave me 1 hr notice. I had cooked up this great cake and it didn't look good either to present to him (the only time it fell apart). Thankgoodness the rest of the meal was ready and I just added to it. Which reminds me, with Thanksgiving coming up, I need to by more Dream Whip
