| Bread Storage Tip I just thought I would pass along a tip to you all about keeping bread 'fresh'.
For those of you who don't like to put sandwich bread in the refrigerator (like me - it tends to change the starch qualities or something along those lines ), here's what I do...
Since there are only two of us in the house here who will even be eating the bread, and we don't eat much on top of that, it's difficult to use up a whole loaf of bread without it going bad. So, I cut one 1/2-inch slit on each side of the plastic bag, about 1/4 of the way up from the bottom end of the bag (for a total of two 1/2-inch slits). This allows for perfect airflow - not too much, not too little. I have been able to keep a loaf of bread for many days this way, and still have it to be edible.
Now, for those of you who have huge families, you probably go through many a loaf and don't need this tip, but I thought that maybe some of you could use it.
