Hannah Montana...anyone watching? I've been watching this w/ DDs (I always watch with them first to make sure it's suitable) and I'm not quite sure what to think. Besides the acting being *really* bad (but kids don't care about that), I'm not so sure about the premise and where it has the potential of going (I'm thinking Hillary Duff and Lindsey Lohan here). DDs have already asked questions about whether it's right of her to lie and for her dad to encourage the lying. Anyone else have any input?

Re: Hannah Montana...anyone watching? I have seen the show a few times, and I don't think the concept is all that bad even if the acting is. I am not sure if you could really consider it lying though. I mean all actors use there stage names that are not there birth names. Besides it really seems to me that the lesson being taught is how difficult it is for a celebrity to have a normal life. Think about it, would you be able to have a normal life when your fans literaly salivate over every bit a news good or bad about you. Imagine how much harder it is for a kid to have a some what normal life? I know, I know this is the life they chose, but that doesn't mean they should be able to live it as normally as possible.

Re: Hannah Montana...anyone watching? I've seen Hannah Montana, and I see nothing wrong with her "double life". She's a kid, trying to be normal at the same time doing something she loves. They're really aren't hurting anyone. I don't see Myley Cyrus being as big a star as Hillary or Lindsey, either. I think she'll stick with Hannah Montana and after that we won't see her again. The acting isn't the greatest, but it's cute to see Billy Ray and Myley act together. And, I'll admit, the songs are cheesy, but they do stick in your head! I'm waiting for Achey Breaky Heart to come on...you know it will!

Re: Hannah Montana...anyone watching? I have been watching it but not that closely. But, I agree with the others that I don't think it is lying. I would hate to be her age and be a big celebrity and not have any privacy. I think the acting stinks and that the girls looks weird for some reason. Something just doesn't fit. Billy as the dad is funny to watch as well. Hannah's friend looks just like her brother. (Hayley Joel Osment) if I spelled it correctly.

Re: Hannah Montana...anyone watching? I did tell DDs that it wasn't really a lie, but a *secret* and that helped them understand it better. I'm just hoping she stays sweet and cute and doesn't get all trashy as she develops. I really like her voice, it's not that whiny, sinusy sound that seems to be so popular right now (i.e. Hillary Duff, the entire cast of High School Musical ) So far, so good, I'm hoping they take some cues from HSM and keep on the clean and modest track.

Re: Hannah Montana...anyone watching? My DD and I have watched a couple of the shows. I really don't like the acting....esp her little friend Lily that yells everything (Haley Joel Osment's little sister...how come she's so bad and he's so good). I haven't really given the lying thing much thought, but understand her family's reason for doing so. DD wants her closet though .

Re: Hannah Montana...anyone watching? [ QUOTE ] DD wants her closet though . [/ QUOTE ] Heck, I want her closet!!! Dawn, I actually think the message the show is sending is a pretty good one. Here's a kid that could be the most popular girl in her school and she chooses to keep it a secret so she can lead a "normal" life. It' really a pretty mature decision for a teen to make. (Rather unbelievable, but hey, that's another story!)
