Two Hollywood mystery movies...

Two movies that I really want to see are Hollywoodland, about the death of George Reeve, and the Black Dahlia.

I've heard some great reviews of Diane Lane's performance in Hollywoodland. Has anyone seen it yet? Here's a link to the official website:

http://www.hollywoodlandmovie.com/

I also want to see the Black Dahlia. If you do a search on google you will find a ton of websites related to this infamous murder, so there are obviously a lot of opinions out there on whodunit

Official site for The Black Dahlia:

http://www.theblackdahliamovie.net/

I'd love to hear any reviews on either film. Also wondering how much sex/language these movies have, as my 15 and 16 yr. olds want to see it too.

Hollywoodland!!

Hollywoodland is GREAT Michelle!! The costumes are beautiful and I loved how they used sepia tones etc to make you feel like it was the late 1950's. I was under the impression that Affleck's Reeves was a minor role of brief flashbacks from what I read. I'm not a big fan so I figured I could deal with that. He's in it more than that and really did a great job. He gained approx 20 or 25 lbs for the movie. The R rating was for the abundant profanity. The sex was more implied. I would suggest you see it before making a decision for your teens. The profanity didn't take away nor distract me from the movie. If my 16-year-old DSD was here we'd have taken her along if that's any help.

Want to see The Black Dahlia but probably won't fit it in before our trip.

Re: Hollywoodland!!

I saw the Black Dahlia last night and it was terrible..I went on a website to check reviews by users and they all agreed..the murder of The Black Dahlia was mostly a subplot..Very difficult to follow and I'm not a stupid person, mind you..when I got out of the movie with my friend, we couldn't agree on who was who in the film...she perceived some things differently than I...She said;"I think I'd have to watch it again to see what I missed."..My response?.."Well IF you watch it again, let me know how it ends.." enough said..

Hollywoodland!!

Sorry to hear that but not surprised. That's why I opted for Hollywoodland. I wonder if reading up on the actual event prior to seeing TBD would be useful?

Okay, so how do I convince DH to go see HWL? He has said that it doesn't sound like anything he's like...but then again, he thinks Arnold Schwarzasomething is a GREAT actor!
