Re: Are you as bad as I am???

My DD has taken dance for the last 4 years at a place very near a B&N. Needless to say, almost every Monday for 4 years I have gone to B&N and have walked out with a book or magazine (American Bungalow) every time. Some for me, some for my DH or children. Now, when am I going to have time to read all of these books??? But I love them!!!!

Re: Are you as bad as I am???

I am also a bookaholic. Once when DS was supposed to estimate for his class how many books were in his house he guessed 200. He was 7 at the time and had no clue! He had over 200 books on his own shelf! I did a rough count and got up to 2,000 before quitting.

Lately though, I'm a library junkie. I only splurge on books about twice a year, usually when shopping for gifts for others. I could easily load my arms with books, but I've been trying to watch my money (not go out the door to the bookstore). Instead, I usually have about 20 books out at the library at a time! A few for the DSs and DD, but most for me.

I'm trying so hard to be good & utilize our newly remodled local library. It really is beautiful.

Re: Are you as bad as I am???

I've really had to rein it in. I used to spend hundreds of dollars every year just on books for myself. My obsession began with my employee discount at Waldenbooks about 8 years ago. Now, I take DS to B&N once a week for storytime in the kiddie section and we pick up one book that relates to our letter of the week or an upcoming holiday. We borrow at least 12 books every week from the library. If there's a book that I just have to own, I buy a nearly new copy of it from Half.com. It usually does come out to about half price after shipping for paperbacks in new condition.

Bookstores are a MAJOR weakness of mine too, Darcie.

Re: Are you as bad as I am???

Okay, went to B&N yesterday but behaved and only got two books....though it came to $50! Hopefully one will pay for itself as it is Peterson's 2007 Guide to Scholarships, Grants and Loans to help DD17 prepare for college.
