| How About Them Chicks? Did anyone catch the Grammy's last night? I missed it but was so excited to see the Dixie Chicks won all five categories they were nominated in, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album. I think its ironic that they no longer consider themselves Country Music Artists. I'm a huge fan of theirs and have been since their beginning. I think the country station I listen to in Seattle is one of the few who continues to play their music.

| Their comments about President Bush and the war in Iraq upset a lot of their listening public in red states. If they're not country music artists, what are they?

| Didn't like them before, don't like them now. I don't believe they won because of their talent. I think the ones who decide who to give the grammys to were trying to make a political statement of their own. |

| That Natalie Maines sure does like to stir the pot. I love their music, always have. Don't agree with their views on a lot of things, but the songs are still good.

| Didn't watch much of the grammys last night, but taped most of it. I did see when they got song of the year. Of course I have never heard the song before, but I am not a big fan of the Dixie Chicks. A couple of songs of theirs are ok. |

| What cracks me up is I listen to country music more that anything (more than one station) and have never even heard one of their new songs! It sounds like a political statement more than anyting to me. Also, after what they said about country music fans... I sure won't buy one of their c.d.'s.

| We watched and I was thrilled to see them win. Good for them for being able to overcome! I have always enjoyed their music and I have always appreciated Natalie's strong self. And I don't think that the awards were given to make a political statement. If you listen to the album you see that it deserved to win some, if not all, the awards. It was produced by a fabulous producer (produced the best Tom Petty album in my opinion) and had musicians Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench (part of the Heartbreakers of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers). They are both fabulously talented musicians. Kudos to the Chicks for more great music and not stepping down!

| I'm not a country music fan, so I haven't heard any of their songs. But more than that, I am not a fan of award shows. Music, movies, broadway shows- who's to say who is the best. It's a subjective issue, and it's really up to each individual to decide. So award shows don't really mean anything to me.

| And music these days is so inter-twined into other genres.... I mean look at some of the variety of nominations in each category last night. Music is very different now... (maybe that's why I seem to enjoy music not from now....)

| I think that it would mean alot more if the fans/general public were allowed to vote instead of members of an academy or something or other. It's kinda like the Oscars. |
