RIP Alan Quartermaine............

OK, I haven't watched General Hospital for about 2 years, give or take a few episodes. Well DD is a big GH fan and has got me hooked(thanks to the DVR) in the last 2 weeks. I just watched the passing of long timer Alan Quartermaine. I balled my eyes out for the whole show. He has been on forever and watching his family mourn for him was very sad. So RIP Alan Quartermaine.

Definitely a sad day on GH. I can think of a lot of other characters I would rather have seen go. RIP Alan Quartermaine!

He has some health problems, but he was "let go." He was pretty upset about it, as was the rest of the cast (you should see what Kim McCollough/Robin said--- on the record). GH execs just do not value any of the veteran actors on GH--- they wouldn't give Felicia a contract, they only use Bobbie as Carly's mom-- Tony Geary/Luke made a comment that anyone over 40 has to be ready to leave at any time. It's the Sonny show.

I'm feelin bad for Stone Cold though as I watch this!! I love Jason!

Aw man-- I'm feelin for Jax too.

I am so not happy about this. Not only that, they had him die before Jason could talk to with him! Couldn't they have killed off Edward, I swear the character will be around forever!

Alan, Monica, Bobbie, Luke, etc. these are the characters that made the show extremely popular and to have them disregarded as 2nd string really irks me.

I hear you!!! They did kill Edward once LOL--- remember when he was stranded on that island, but for a while we thought he was dead (he was supposed to be dead and then they changed their mind, they even had him come back as a ghost before they decided to bring him back--- which they also did to Robert and Anna). And, then they got rid of John Ingle (who plays Edward) maybe two years ago for a younger Edward--- ABC got so many letters and negative publicity that they finally took John Ingle back after quite a while. The cast loves John Ingle, and he taught drama to alot of big name hollywood actors (Joe and I watched a show about him on E a few years ago)-- I'm betting he's going to be around for a while now after all of that negative press. I would also have preferred Edward dying to Alan--- especially because that character is supposed to be much much older. I'm so mad about Alan dying.

For some reason, the producers don't realize how important the older characters are. Look at Noah, they pop him in every now and then to tell Patrick he's doing something stupid, and then he's gone. Robert and Anna were brought back and given no storyline whatsoever. They brought Holly back, and totally changed her character. We never see Bobbie. They told Kristina Wagner (Felicia) that they would only have her on now and then because she was the mother of characters who would have a storyline--- she was too (I forget what word they used, but basically old) for their viewers to have her own storyline anymore. The GH execs are idiots. I wish I could stop watching, but I can't. All of the other soaps give storylines to their older characters-- with the exceptiong of Tracey, Luke and Sonny--- it's all about the younger characters.

I haven't watched GH in years, my brothers and I would rush home from school to see what was happening to Luke and Laura.

Does anyone remember Stuart Damon as Prince Charming in Rodgers & Hammerstein "Cinderella" (1965)? Lesley Anne Warren played Cinderella. I saw that even before I saw GH and I was in love with him then, I was all of what maybe 5 (ok I am showing my age) He had the most beautiful singing voice and sure looked great in those tights

RIP Alan Quartermaine, we will all miss you, more than you know....

That "Cinderella" was my ultimate Cinderella movie when I was growing up! It was on once a year and that was the most special night for me (almost as great as Christmas Eve!)! I couldn't believe that when I started watching GH as a teenager during the Luke and Laura era that my Prince Charming was Alan Quartermaine. I loved when he sang the song "10 minutes ago I met you" to Cinderella as they dances at the ball! Sigh! My favorite!

Ditto, I loved that song, I can hear it now. I still sing, "In my own little corner" and "It's possible for a plain country pumpkin, to become a golden carriage, It's possible, things are happening every day"...........

I wonder if I can find it on DVD or even VHS????? I will have to google

Ugh! I don't like the way the soaps are going with the target focus on the younger age group. It gives nothing for us long time fans to relate to. I haven't watched GH in a while nor AMC because of the changes made in the past five to ten years.

Stuart Damon will always be MY Prince Charming.

According to Soap Opera Weekly, Stuart Damon's contract isn't up until August and he'll be making a ghostly appearance to Tracey and possibly a few others.

GH is also going to be launching a prime time soap called GH: After Hours (or Dark) for the sumemr. It's supposed to be closer to Grey's Anatomy than Port Charles and focus on the younger characters (like they don't already) and the goings on of the hospital (doctors, nurses, patients). When I was a kid and watched with my mom, that's what the soap was about to begin with!
